OS Daily Thursday 12th December This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Still dark here, but can see that we've had a frost.
DH up and now getting ready for work.
Dinner last night was roast chicken, mash, veg and gravy - chicken had lovely flavour, decided that I'd put it in the oven on timer as I wasn't sure how long I'd be at the dentist - wasn't actually too long at all but timer had just turned the oven on when I got back. Dentist was all good and I just need to go back in 4 months for a check up and clean if needed. Tonight dinner will be something made from the LO chicken - most possibly something with rice and bits thrown in.
Work wasn't too bad yesterday morning. Pleased now to be on days off though.
Friend came over yesterday - typed up a letter for her as she has no computer/printer to do this and the people who she was writing too insisted on something in writing. She had taken further advice on Tuesday from CAB and did seem calmer but she's being told things which are all very good in theory but I know from my work that things don't go as straight forward as it's being made out to be! Just trying to be supportive but not get involved as such.
Today have a mountain of chores to do - all the normal stuff with extra xmas stuff on top! Today I'm going to try to tackle the washing, drying and ironing, housework, marzipan xmas cake, wrap some prezzies, write cards etc. Will try to sort out some hotspots etc, write shopping list for tomorrow, menu plan, check through tableclothes, napkins etc for xmas table, ice cakes.
I'm just going to plod along and do the best I can otherwise I just get overwhelmed with how much there is to do and end up getting nothing done. Last night did manage to put in an on-line order to be delivered tuesday evening next week, have ordered the beer, spirits, and other heavy stuff (non perishables) so I don't have to battle my way round the SM next week to purchase them.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
Later than usual from me as was trying to work out the intricacies of labelling parcels to Canada at my normal posting time!
Now have 5 parcels to post today so will be staggering to the post office later at lunchtime. Still had no joy with feedback on ebay but I will keep trying.
Am on a mission to empty the freezer so it's lucky dip meat for dinner.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Had a lovely lunch yesterday (lots of salad, not much pizza, I promise!), we came back to mine after and drank coffee. I had a couple of hours to myself before mr tru came home so I got busy with the decorations. The house is now suitably tackyfied and tinselatedI've saved the tree for today.
I've sorted the washing and put it away, just need to wash the breakfast things, let the chickens out and get dressed. Then I'm going to have a fab day - tree decorating, crocheting and agonising over which basket the Roses should go in

Good morning everyone
I can't believe it's so mild at the moment. The radio just said it was going to be around 13 degrees today. It doesn't really feel like Winter yet. I'm not complaining mind you, I love that it's not raining and cold.
Hubby and girls packed off to work/school and I'm having another day at home cleaning up and tidying. I've got a delivery from Sainsburys this morning as a change from Tescos as they sent me a £15 off £60 spend as I haven't shopped with them for a couple of years. I used to use them all the time but they 'updated' their website and I couldn't check out orders etc which was a frustrating experience . I gave them up in favour of Tescos as I find online shopping a real godsend.
An easy tea of pizza tonight for hubby and girls and I have some chicken and vegetables. I will make a couple of roasties in the actifry just to make everyone jealous too :rotfl:. Weightwatchers has it's advantages at times.:D
Well, I'd better get a wriggle on and get dressed before I frighten the delivery drivers :rotfl::rotfl:. Take care and gentle hugs to all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning all,
Happy Birthday to Topsy, hope you have a lovely day, (my smilies wont work for some reason !)
Day off work today, and I am going to my most dreaded ever place.............
the hairdresser !! I would much rather go to the dentist, my hair is waist length and very thick, when I let it down at the hairdresser they either back away in horror or get a gleam in their eyes as to what they could do with it ! oh well I have not been for at least 2 years, so its time really !
Going to have a look round the shops after and I hope finish my xmas shopping I only have a few bits to get. DD and I will also grab some lunch out, she as her last lecture at 3.30 today.
Polyanna, My dd had a fab time in London ( I cant think of anything worse either) they had a day shopping then went to winter wonderland for a drink and look around, oh to have her energy !
Dinner tonight will be something and chips, possibly some fish that I found in the freezer.
DW and wm are on and I will hang the washing out for a while.
have good days all xx0 -
Foggy and everything iced up this morning. Brrh. Going to london to see War Horse with DD and ex mother in law tonight. Looking forward to it but not the coach journey.
Have finished all presents, wrapped and under the decorated tree. ( thanks to Dd )
Hope everyone is well and happy. Have a good day.0 -
Morning all,
There's a magpie sitting on the road sign pole outside my house - it's staring in at the Christmas tree lights. Glad I'm not very superstitious!
Yesterday I spent some time in town, and came back tired, but went with DH to T*sco for a big shop in the afternoon, after nipping into school to leave a few bits & bobs at Reception. We both spent the evening stretched out in front of the TV dozing! Must watch Monastery Farm again to see what I missed.
Today I must iron (WM was on yesterday) and we have a carol concert with the local rugby club to go to. I also have to make a big decision - what to wear to the school staff party on Friday. The 3 dress options are all black, but if they don't look right I have a black chiffon skirt ...or black trousers. Oh well, seasonal I am not!
DH is at the dentist this morning, he is on part two of having a new crown - it has to be pegged in. I went queasy when he said what the dentist wd be doing today so I shan't repeat it. With any luck he will finally have some sort of 'tooth' in the gap - he's looked very disreputable with a big gap in his grin over the last 9 months while the replacement dentist was being sorted out.
Well, off to sort out the kitchen, xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I need to get a parcel wrapped and taken to post office later with cards to post.
Also take books back to library. Have left over fish pie tonight for three of us as one dd is going to pick up youngest from uni tonight and need to tidy and make up her bedroom ready.
Planned to order repeat prescriptions online but could not connect to site.
Managed to report the non paying buying (thanks redruby for the advice) and need to start wrapping some presents and make a note of what I got for people. Once it is written down I then realise I need extra or have forgotten something.
Hug to all"This site is addictive!"

Morning
Quick one from me as I am off to Bath today to meet hubby for lunch
Need a pick me up as DS was sobbing last night saying he wants to go to a new school as he doesn't have any friends and it's kinda playing on my mind a bitJust want him to be happy down here but think it's going to be a long bumpy road.
Doing some frantic Benny Hill speed cleaning, the downside to have a few hours off during the day today I guess
Not sure about tea, need to look at planner but prob something with sausage I think.
Hugs and spoons all round xxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
