I won a google chromebook 11 back in December (The competition was here http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/hp-chro...-and-giveaway/

The competition people told me of the problem with the chargers and said they were waiting to see what was happening. Then a while after they contacted me again to say they would send me my prize but under no circumstances was I to use the charger but if I had another (ie phone) charger I could use it. I received my chromebook at the end of December.

I kept checking on line to see what was happening with the chargers and about a fortnight ago I found out the issue had been resolved. If anyone had a chromebook that they got before the end of last year they were to contact google to order a replacement. I did this (although my laptop was not registered to my address I just explained I had won it in a competition and it was probably under their address). I have now received my charger, also with it was a £15 voucher for google play. Sorry for being long winded but just to let you know the issue with the chargers has been resolved. You could ask for the chromebook and say that you are willing to chase up the new charger yourself. I received it about 3 days after I rang up about it. I was given a prepaid return label too, to return the faulty charger.

By the way I am using my chromebook at the minute to type this and I absolutely love it.

PS in case anyone is wondering about having to pay taxes, I didn't and the replacement charger us a UK (3 pin plug) one.

Really??? Wow - May I ask what postal service and if the so called "rumors" are true about import tax ?

No import taxes and it seems everyone I know has had them delivered by Fed ex

It was by Fed Ex and no import tax. I'm wondering if they were actually shipped to somewhere in the UK and then redistributed as I was expecting to pay import tax.

Mine also had a £15 Google Play voucher as an apology for the charger situation.

Mine arrived via fed ex today. It has a card to say sorry for the delay and that has a £15 google play voucher code included on it too which was nice.
