Hi chrisalis1947
The percentage increase depends on the tariff in question.
The headline rate is an average only and is based on our standard variable tariff. The actual amount will depend on the individual circumstances.
I'm afraid, though, the letter you've received was printed before the Government announced changes in the social and environmental programmes.
These changes have enabled us to keep the price increase lower than originally intended.
Unfortunately, the price increase advised in the letters doesn't include these reductions. As a result, the actual increase you'll see will be lower than the one advised.
We've passed on these changes via a lower standing charge on all our variable tariffs. For the prices quoted above, your unit rate has increased to 15.23p per kWh but your standing charge has gone down to 26.02 per day.
Sorry for the confusion the letters have caused chrisalis1947 but hope this explains.

if you are a heatwise customer your per unit increase for heatwise units is a massive 17.8 %, each unit has gone up from 7.382p to 8.694p, they have reduced the standing charge from 11.645p a day to zero but that effectively makes little difference. There are other changes to direct debit discount and no mains gas discount which make the situation worse. No other companies offer a heatwise tariff (mainly for people with storage heaters) so we cannot change to a different company. How can EON justify such an increase0

£42.50 a year difference.
For very low users, people love no standing charge, see ebico ad nauseum!0 -

Unfortunately people who are on heatwise tariff are usually people who live in electricity only households with storage heaters and so end up using loads of electricity, our current average use is £200 a month before the increase, so a decrease of £42.50 a year is no compensation0 -
Looked to me as if the 1 year fixes have gone up by much more as well. I'm on the v3 1 year fix and over recent months v4 and v5 came out which actually reduced the price. However, looking at the figures the new v6 1 year fix is 7.5% higher for me so its probably near 10% rise over v5!0

Hi awizzbang
Just to confirm, you're right, the Heatwise off peak rate has gone up by 17.8 per cent. This is for the storage heaters and hot water during the afternoon/evening periods.
The other parts of the tariff haven't gone up by quite as much, though. For instance, the day rate for all usage has gone up by 2.4 per cent and the night rate for all usage by 2.8 per cent.
As well as scrapping the second standing charge on the Heatwise part of the meter, we've also lowered the standing charge on the main meter by 5 per cent.
You're right, too, about the No Mains Gas Discount. This is going.
For Monthly Direct Debits, instead of a percentage discount, we're now reducing the standing charge by £35. This is in addition to the reduction mentioned above.
All in all, your prices will go up but maybe not by as much as first thought. Although, for a high user, I do understand the impact may be quite significant.

The reduction in standing charge for the normal account has gone down by7p a day or approx £25 a year. I used to get 6% discount on my direct debit payments which would be approx £144 a year which means I am worse off by £84 a year, this does not take into account the unit cost increase.
You fail to state a reason why the unit cost for the heatwise tariffs have gone up by 17.8% when other tariffs have gone up by only 3%, the only reason I can see is that we are unable to transfer to another company, so no competition means you charge those customers much more.
I look forward to your reply0 -

wrong, wrong, wrong
my prepayment meter - all electric at same price - has gone up 8.8%, standing charge by over 9%, so the price has gone up exactly as first thought0
