All that's needed is a couple of screws ( NOT nails !! ) in the wall. Either carefully measure and place the screws such that the hooks will locate directly onto the screws, or else attach a piece of wire between the hooks, which then hangs from the screws. You can get special "picture hanging" wire from any hardware shop.

Just make sure the screws are into something solid - either directly into brickwork, using rawl plugs, or directly into the wooden battens if it's a plasterboard wall.

Easy enough to DIY, but if you want to get someone in, then ask around friends / neighbours for a local handyman. It's really not much more than 10 minutes work, if that. Or you could always try asking your neighbours if they could do it for you, if they're at all DIY-minded, in return for a pint or something. It really is a very simple job.

Hi, thank you so much for the reply. What are wooden battens? the wall we have is, the wall is plaster board but alot tougher than other plaster board in the house, some areas when hit it are tougher and not hollow and other areas are.

So this mirror should hold fine in a plaster board wall you say, is it that heavy then 15kg? or not really for a plaster board wall. I was going to just put screws in but get that feeling they might come lose and pull down with weight? is there a extra safe way or special kind of opening screw that opens up inside? or somthing else, just scared it will fall in time and kids are under it.

Thank you so much for you help. Also if we were to find someone getting a handy man we might get a cowboy, so si there a tradesman that specializes in this field, I can not think of one. Not the best at DIY me :(

    Thank you

it's too heavy for a plasterboard wall.
Get a carpenter or general handyman in.

You need to screw into batten or drill into mortar to fix the screws.

No, you can't screw just into the plasterboard, not even with those special expanding plugs. If it's a plasterboard wall, then it's most likely to be fixed to a wooden framework. You need to screw through the plaster and into the wood behind ( commonly called "studs" or "battens" ).

It's possible that you have a brick wall with plasterboard facing on it. In this case then drill through the plasterboard into the bricks, insert a rawl plug and screw into that.

There's no specific tradesman that you need - any carpenter or builder would be able to do it, but really you just need a general "handyman" - or as I said before, just a friend or neighbour who's capable of simple DIY. Hope this helps.
