Hi everyone! I actually live in Rhyl so have booked to go to southport 2nd July, didn't really just want to go down the road! Anyway the arrive alive van isn't there everyday, I have driven down there a few times in the last couple of weeks and haven't seen it once, but the road that just go up between Prestatyn and Rhyl (past the big Lyons holiday camp) is littered with police, I drove down there on friday and I counted 5 hidden police cars and 3 that had stopped people! That is a 40mph zone but people do speed up there so beware!

Anyway I am really nervous about going to southport as it will be the first holiday with my little girl, she is only 3 months old but is very good! My partner can't get time off work so my sis is coming with us, I'm sure we will be fine tho. i have booked a cot for £10 but my friend said I can borrow her travel cot so I am gonna phone up and try to cancel it, hope they will let me!

I hope the weather improves it is absolutely throwing it down here in Rhyl! And for those people going to Prestatyn and have been to Rhyl before, the promenade in Rhyl has been improved a lot, there is a brilliant park for the kids, 2 new crazy golf courses a great new paddling pool and a new little outdoor ampitheatre with pictures of the old Rhyl, its all worth a look! The fair will prob be open but it is quite rubbish so if you are gonna go don't bother going until after 7 when all the rides are £1.

I don't really know that much about Prestatyn only that there isn't much there but if anyone would like to know anything else about the area I may be able to help, just ask!

I rung today (Monday 9am) and they said that the only free ones left are going this week (ie today!) and the rest are available at half price.
Oh well, I was too slow yet again!

    Hiya all,

Many thanks to the OP for this post, called on Saturday night and managed to book 4 nights in Prestatyn starting on Mon 2nd.. Just one query, I have never been to Pontins and money is not at a premium, does anyone have any tips for taking this holiday in a money saving fashion?? I have a 2 yr old DS and am worried that the activites etc are going to cost a fortune!!

    Thanks,

    Sarah xx

I think apart from food the main things the kids always want is those light-up sticks, and glow bangles, and flashing things, helium balloons etc (when we've been to Haven anyway) so it would be a good idea to visit a £1 shop and see what you can get there instead of waiting to pay £5 an item. Also I guess taking your own juice at night time for him. Also don't forget bucket and spade etc. I don't think you have to pay for much though, if it's anything like Haven. Food would be the biggy but just take your own food.

We are a family of 5, hope to be able to sneak us all in at Prestatyn. How strict are the security on main gate, will they count people in car?
Hope to say hello to you all this weekend providing we successfully get on site

If they do check, just say your hubby is just helping you in with everything and then he will be going as he has to get back to work, or something like that. That's what I'd do.

Me and my mate rang yesterday morning and were told the only free ones they had left were for today (monday) :(
We both asked (on seperate calls cause i had no credit till later) if they had any offers and were told..

"no only the free holidays then everything is back normal prices"

Shame cause now my friend has booked to go abroad which i cant afford and cant split the cost with anyone else so no holidays for me and bratty this year :(

Thanks for this anyway op hope the people who did get one have a great time :)
Woulda been nice to get one but thats what i get for babysitting as a favour instead of checking the freebies thread every half hour :rotfl:

They give you a voucher pack when you arrive with quite a few free activity sessions. I think you'll find your 2 year old will be too young for many activities. You have to buy an electricity token - it's very cheap so try to get a refund on what you don't use.
I would take your own drinks and snacks for the little one if you want to save money and of course it's cheaper if you cook your own food although I seem to remember some of the vouchers were for food and drink.
Hope you have a lovely time.
