iPad Mini Contract Network Lock??

I have recently taken out an iPad mini on contract with EE.
The contract was taken out via a carphone warehouse store.
I got it as a present for a family member for Christmas. Today I found out that this family member is going to live in the ROI from January.
My questions are
A) will the iPad be locked to EE, or will it be unlocked? I can't find any solid info and don't want to unwrap the ipad to find out
will it work with a SIM from the ROI?

Have you contacted CPW to ask? In the past people have said that phones from them were unlocked.

In fact even for iPhones CPW say specifically: "will lock to the network of the first SIM used".

As they don't say this for iPads, I would guess that they aren't or don't get locked, but it's definitely worth checking with CPW.

I've contacted CPW, EE and Apple, none of them had a clue

Just order a free PAYG nano sim from another network and check then.
Or you can cut a normal mini-sim.
