company trying to force me into paying to cancel subscription

i received an order today for samples of some sports supplements. it's touted as being a non-subscription, easy to cancel service.

i used the discount code they posted on another forum, received the products and i'm happy with it, although it's a bit too expensive to justify on a monthly basis so i want to cancel it.

their T&Cs (which i must have missed before signing up) state that if you use a promotional code, you can't cancel until you've paid for and received a 2nd package at full price.

i've cancelled the recurring payment with the bank, so i know i'm covered there, but there's no way they can force me to take & pay for another pack is there?

it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

    What company?
Can you please supply a link?

Cancelling the recurring payment only cancels the payment method.
It does not cancel the contract.
If the contract that you have agreed says you owe them money, then you still owe them money even if you cancel the recurring payment.

I would be making sure that I cancelled the contract too.
otherwise you could find a bad debt marker (or something) on your credit file.

If you have agreed to pay two full price installments then I fear that is what you will have to do.

Clicking on the second link in your post, they even had a link to their cancellation policy:

    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Whats there to cancel if its not a subscription?

So you ordered a special offer of get one free if your buy one, basically. You've had the free one but now dont want to have to pay for the second one. You've agreed to terms you have to honour them otherwise you may find non-payment, court fees etc all be added on top. Alternatively call their bluff and dont pay.

Just so you know, if you do a Buy One, Get One Free, you cannot later return one and expect a full refund and to be able to keep the free one :A

When going through their checkout process, one comes across a box that needs to be ticked that says:
By ticking this box, I have read and agree to the terms and conditions, refund policy and any cancellations that may apply stated by MusclePack Ltd
    I couldn't find their T&Cs.

    I found their Refund policy.
    Part of that policy says:
MusclePack do not offer refunds on packs supplied except where goods are damaged, faulty, or expired.
Not sure how well that fits with DSRs though.

I found their Cancellation Policy which does explain that you need to accept one full price delivery before cancellation.

On the whole, it strikes me that they are unfairly expecting you to tick a box saying you have agreed to terms which are very difficult, if not impossible, to find.

The first thing you need to do is cancel your subscription in the way described in their cancellation policy.

You may have trouble doing this before accepting a full price delivery, but depending on the cost involved, that may be the easiest way out.

T&Cs are on their website under Legal Statement

    Took 30 seconds to find.

There's lots of answers to general questions in their FAQ http://www.musclepack.co.uk/help.asp

Seems like the OP is trying to get out of a contract he signed.

they do and i missed that, i'll hold my hands up, but it's conflicting terms and at no point in that advert did they say you have to take a fully paid month in order to cancel. infact, above that link it says 'we also have no fixed term contracts, so if you find MusclePack isn’t for you; you’re not locked in'

that's all well and good, but i didn't get one free, it was 40% off, which is effectively 20% off a 2 month subscription

Indeed there are, but surely one is not expected to read those before purchase unless specifically directed towards them.

I agree, and as the OP has ticked a box saying he has read the Cancellations Policy, that may be difficult.

Which you are directed to, if you read the page where the OP got their discount code from, before you even get to the code, the link is clearly provided:
