How much is this guard x worth

Buy some seat covers and haggle for more money off0

A dealer tried this on us. Free expensive polish rather than a deal on the price. Once I told them I can get the stuff for £20 a cash discount was quickly agreed0

I told them I didn't want gap but if they threw in the guard x then I would go for it. The sales man said the guard x is worth £350 at cost which I can't believed. I know it's for exterior paintwork and scotch guard on the seats but this seems a bit excessive.
I have a 2year old so am concerned with the spillages and accidents so am interested in protecting my seats and interior but not wanting to pay this. He offered me instead free mot for life. The car is less than 6 months old. I asked about free servicing. He said only with finance agreement.
I am not desperate about needing a new car and my mileage is very low so I can wait till next year.
What should push him on to throw in. Guard x, servicing or should I stick with the free mot.
Thanks
Neither, the scotchguard for the seats can be had for £10 or less, I got some for £2.99 as it was on a special in the shops, once applied you ideally should let the car air for 24hrs. The exterior protection is a paint sealant and again ideally should be applied to a freshly polished car. If you are not inclined to do it yourself, source a local posh valeter / detailer or better yet a pro am locally.
Both treatments do not last forever so don't treat the vehicle with impunity.0 -
I have been looking on ebay thanks to you guys, I can see that the gard x is cheap enough and plenty of sellers. The free mot isn't worth much either as I have have half price mot for the past 2 years with my insurance with halfords. So not worth much either. I had settled on a part ex price of 5k as a nice round figure. So tank of fuel and first free service must be worth more. I am hoping that sales are poor at this time of year and they want to sell this car.0

It's a Yaris, there's hundreds of them available. If they won't do a deal you're happy with, walk and find another. There's no shortage.0 -
Yep haggle away. With these guards etc - you have to ask why the manufacturers don't fit them themselves given they are so good....
Most marks will come out of the seats any way with a decent valet or interior cleaner if the worst happens. I say that as the parent of a five year old that has been terribly travel sick in the past. No further details needed I think. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
GuardX/JewelUltra Diamondbrite/Lifeshine etc etc is only worth it if you hardly ever wash your car (for instance if you live in a block of flats) on the basis that some protection is better than no protection.
It does not take days and days to apply - a few hours at most for an experienced valeter. You can buy these kits on FleaBay for a fraction of the price (£30-£50) and a spray can of Scotchguard from John Lewis for around £10. The question is how much you value your time.
If you wash your car regularly then you don't need this snake oil. These products are simply sealants with fanciful claims. Why do they cost so much?
The salesman gets £30 commission, the sales manager gets £, the dealership gets £, the snake oil salesman gets £, the snake oil company gets £, and the chump valeter who applies it gets his normal weekly wage.
My friend is a VW salesman and he hates selling this stuff. The man without a signature.0 -
Why not do what my parents did - don't let us have sweets/drinks in the car = clean seats.
Free MOT for life is pointless as you won't benefoit from it for another 2.5 years. Plus it is probabl;y tying you into using main dealer, so they will get their money back anyway.
Free servicing again isn't much use if the next service isnt due for the next 20k etc.
Just ask for money off or you will walk.0 -

I have family member that worked for a Toyota dealer, the sales staff used to boast about selling this stuff, as it only cost them £40 per car.
