Gumtree scam?

Hi all,

I recently bought and paid for a graphics card on friday on gumtree via bank transfer. My main concern is that now I might have been scammed. Looking at the original advert here:

And if you type his phone number on the search box here:

http://localmartuk.com/search/07511650995/

It comes up with multiple listings of high valued items. Digging around, I also found myself this article:

http://www.stourbridgenews.co.uk/news/9886971.Fraudster_diverted_council_boss_s_pay_into_girlfriend_s_account__court_hears/

Although I'm not too sure if it is related or not but if you guys have a look a the map on gumtree, it suggests that this guy also stays at Stourbridge.

Any ideas if I am indeed scammed, if there is anyway I can get my money back?

Bank transfer is not reversible. Gumtree is for cash on collection, face to face transactions, not to pay and be sent the item.

Haven't looked at the links but the chances are you have been scammed and no you won't be getting your money back. You could look at going down the legal route but as far as the bank goes they won't do anything. You have no protection with bank transfers.

I guess I could just tell the police. Not sure if they would do anything though

Yeah they will give you a crime number if your lucky. Other than that not a lot.

The location maybe bogus. Possibly not even the UK.

07511650995 At least that phone number now links to this post on google. So if it is a SCAM it maybe spotted by future buyers.

Do you guys know if that guy would have recieved the monies by now? I sent it by bank transfer from my account Natwest to his account at Barclays - so I'm guessing it should have arrived in 3 working days right ?

Normally it's probably quicker than the time stated. However, if you sent it late Friday you can't really count Friday as being day 1 as it's unlikely to have been processed then.

You could always phone the bank. I think Natwest also have a live web chat option.

Gumtree is full of scum ive been scammed for tickets on that site before.
