We had the same situation in a previous property we bought, I removed the vents cut a breeze block to fit the hole and cemented it in then plastered over.0

As a carpet-fitter,these vents were always a problem.Amazed how many were situated in front of windows so the curtains blew up in the air.On the spec from manufacturers it used to say that doors should be eased at least 1" from the flooring!!! You can imagine doing that and the customers response. Also understood this form of heating was the worst possible for any asthmatics or people with any breathing problems as it circulated so much dust.I seem to remember we also had a phase of electric blanket type heating put in ceilings under the plaster ,impossible to repair any faults.0

You don't. You get a piece of plasterboard ( or indeed, hardboard or plywood ), glue it to the "inside" of the wall, as it were, then use filler to bring the level flush with the surrounding area. If you google "Repairing Plasterboard Wall" you'll get loads of videos etc, here's just one site that explains it fairly clearly :

Not a fan of warm air then, we love ours.
No vents in front of windows .
All normal fitting doors.
And only standard amount of dust ( apart from a visit by Buncefield)
And when we had new fitted carpets our carpet fitter had no problems.0
