  • Ok...................................be gentle!

    In slow cooker

    chicken carcass
    tomatoes
    mushrooms
    bacon
    carrot
    parsnips

    mixed herbs, ginger, pepper.

Now I think I should have boiled up the carcass first but hey ho! the whole cooking with meat pretty much grosses me out anyhow.

my basic plan is to cook the chicken till it falls apart pick out the bones! oops and then really just keep it in the slow cooker adding more stuff and being careful of stray bones.
that should be dinner sorted this week....

unless you lot tell me there is a flaw in the plan. bit worried re bones..
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • does anyone know where i could get an old fashioned ledger style book (cheap). I love the budget from here, but as i only really use the work p.c. i cant move it about. So i'm thinking an good old fashioned ledger style book would be better for me.

I rescued the carcass and it is currently boiling away happily on the hob....

I left everything else in the slow cooker and will add the chicken stock (from the hob) in, am going to end up with LOTS of stock/soup!

  • Being Old Style I have saved the peel from oranges/lemons/limes and also some halved kiwi fruits in freezer. Now after year or two must use them, but how??? You gave good ideas for marzipan thanks so live in hope.

This thread is moving so fast, I just don't have the time to read it all!.
35 pages! eek. Maybe one day I will get time to go back and skim through it all.
Today I need to get my head around my cashflow next, as the income is coming to an end very soon. The business is only ticking over, and I need to get my act together. (I am always saying that, but I have nearly run out of time now!).

So I am going back to see if I can get Cheryls spreadsheet, and work my way through that budget again.
I then need to see where the crunch date is coming to hit, and how I can get frugalling better and make sure that the S doesn't hit the fan.
We have had a yoyo of incomes over the years, and the last year was good to me, but I was also good to the big children and my money has been spread over them all. Now its No the Bank of Mum has run out.
Last night I gave Twin1's BF my last spare £50 to get a DSlite for DGD. His sister is selling one. DGD wanted one for Christmas but I couldn't afford it on top of everything else that was going on.
I also gave him the last £1.80 I had in my purse/pocket so that he could get a drink on his train journey back south.
Twin1 remembered yesterday that I said the Bank of Mum is closed.
At 11am today, I get a phonecall, can I borrow some money!?????
"NO." "But I need money for sandwiches ..... "
Me. " I don't have any. You have Soup in your cupboard, you will have to eat that. You have packet rices, pasta mixes, and tinned potoates. That's is what you will have to eat!".
I felt awful, but I saw the food in her cupboard. It may be not what she normally eats but that's in there, so she can eat it.
I have to use whats in the cupboards if I am running out of other things. So she can. Yet I still feel awful about it.
Anyway, I am off to sort out the Spreadsheet, and see if I can boost my resolve and get my finances back on track before they are completely off of the rails.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
  • I have a lot of manky bits of chicken left in the saucepan?

basically I boiled it for two hours, there is still a lot of stuff on it. I wasn't made for this kind of cooking! it is gross. gross gross and the house stinks!

I am boiling it some more - to make stock that I can freeze......apparently.

    In other Frugal news,

I am going to start baking. after I have finished the cakes I have in the house I shall bake instead of buying, it may not be cheaper at first but I think it might be better than buying everything in terms of health.

must get on with something other than chicken soup!

  • Bit up and down this week - usual story after the first week of excitement full steam ahead. This week is the reality. Job hunting very slow as I don't really know what I want to do and there aren't many jobs round here any way. Think I should put more effort into making stuff to sell. Thanks for the interesting stuff on ebay FB etc.

Sticking to budget and started second attempt at baking bread. It is hopefully doing it's first rise at the moment. Going to make cauldron of veg curry now.

    Good Luck all :money:
