  • I defrosted a yellow sticker piece of haddock and a lidl piece of salmon baked them as not enough milk to boil it in grrrr. Anyway I mashed potatoes added sweetcorn mixed it all up and into fishcakes then coated in egg and breadcrumbs shallow fried them yum yum! My son said 'They were alright mum i'd eat them again!' I said good job because I froze 2 for another day :rotfl:

Have taken meatballs out of the freezer for tomorrow night but thinking I really am going to have to go shopping soon :(. My son needs more milk and I am almost out of potatoes so I think wednesdays job is see whats left to throw toghether a meal and see what bits I need to finish making a meal and then write a very strict list!

I'm not happy about this because I have no money for shopping until at least February :rotfl:

Still before I would have talked about making fishcakes and never done it and I would have thought I don't fancy meatballs I will nip and get something else! It helps that my car is in the garage as I can't nip anywhere at the moment BUT the cost is going to make me cry when I get the bill!

    Onwards and upwards :T

Although my cupboards, fridge and freezers are still very full I've now started to run low on some items - like frozen peas, mushrooms, and bacon.

Normally I would now go shopping, I made my list it came to about £40 - then I thought "How about being a bit more creative, work around what I have in the cupboards etc and try to make it to the end of the week before I venture out".

Coffee looks like the item that will make me go to the supermarket so I'll try and make a brew of tea at lunchtime to make the coffee go further, hope the DH doesn't notice tea in place of coffee and start to moan.

One of my friends had lots of woolen cardies given to her for her baby, and once they were to small she put them on 3-bay and said they sold really well? Maybe some money in it for u??

Will have to check this out. They so little they take no time to knit. Thanks for the idea. :-)
  • NSD for me yesterday and should be today as well. Taking sandwiches into work for lunch plus fruit for snacks.

The only non-frugal spend for me this week will be my hair apt on Friday which will cost £31. It's expensive but worth it in my book as she does a fab job.

I also need to write a letter tonight to cancel gym membership. OH still wants to go to the gym so he will join a cheaper place while I am not going to bother. I am going to get outside more and walk and do some yoga at home.
  • Today i'm going to a meeting about a new business venture. Im on maternity leave but am trying to come up with a plan so i can not go back to my current job & not pay hundreds in childcare! Would mean gettong everything ready by may time, but need to see if its possoble first. I shall share more if its happening!

Was a busy bee in the kitchen again last night, made 2 quiches & cheese & potato pies. I made a big ball of pastry and kept making things until it was gone :)
Still here..... but working on that!

I was hoping for a NSD yesterday, but had to buy cold and flu sachets (yuck) for the OH, got these for 69p (b00ts value health) and paracetamol for my handbag 19p. Had to put in £1 for collection at work, so £1.88 spent.

    Took lunch to work.

For tea, we had half a cabbage shredded up with egg stir fried and rice, one of my favourite meals - sounds strange.

    Recipe for anyone that's interested:
    Chop 1 clove garlic
Beat 2 eggs with soy sauce and white pepper.
Shred half a cabbage (or chop, whatever)

    Heat wok
    - Add 1 tsp oil
    - Fry garlic until brown
    - Add cabbage to wok, I put a pan lid over the wok to steam the cabbage a bit.
    - Once cabbage wilted slightly, push to the side of the wok.
    - Add the egg mix to the wok, mixing around a bit until egg is cooked.
    - Stir all together and serve

As I said, I have this with white rice. I keep cooking oil in a spray bottle so that when I use it, I just squirt it in the pan. This is also great for roasted veg and saves loads of oil!

Cleaning car (instead of paying £10.00)
Making vegetable soup with last remains of fridge veggie contents.
Not startling - but still getting over flu and feeling washed out.

  • morning everyone

finally i get to post on here. i said in december i was joining in and since then we all came down with flu type illness's then new year our internet went down due to flooding somewhere underground. after many visits by the phone engineers they finally got us sorted yesterday. so many many pages to catch up on.

spending hasnt been too bad. freezer full but fridge looking rather sad. today i will make mushroom soup and tomorrow another from all the sad wrinkly veggies left in the bottom of the fridge. Going to attempt a loaf in my machine again today but think the machine is dying...........tried to make a loaf a few days ago and nothing much happened just a soggy unmixed warm mess in the bottom of the pan. will try again and get hubby to take a look. Buying a new machine was not on my list for this year.
Starting to declutter the house and dd is putting some items on *bay for me and we will split any cash made so hopefully make a penny or two with that.
    have a good day everyone
