Goodbye Citroen C5

For those of you thinking of buying a Citroen C5 I am finally getting rid of the most unreliable car I have ever driven tomorrow.
I inherited a 2.0HDI C5 Exclusive fleet vehicle back in 2010 that is now three years old with 108,000 on the clock and it has been nothing but trouble. Amongst the issues, new fuel filler cap, drivers side rear view mirror dropped off, bonnet stand replaced, Multiple warning lights. The worst of the lot was an engine fault that took six weeks to sort out during which time I had a courtesy car. The dealerships are not up to the standards of other manufacturers.
Being a fleet driver, I have driven most brands over the years and I do about 150,000 miles in each vehicle and only one Brand has never let me down and that is Toyota. I had a 2003 Avensis that did 145,000 miles and never missed a beat.

I have said this in the past. You dont buy a C5 with your own money..
Once the manufacturers warranty has expired its a risky buy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
my dads got a 12 year old one

dont think citroen make those actual parts0 -
A bit like when the MG version of the Rover 75 came out in RWD form (with a V8)
A few years back a sales account manager at work chose one as his company car. I said "You are brave" to which he said "It's not my own money and it's under warranty.....you don't think I'd buy a Rover or a Citroen if I had to pay for it myself"0 -
Now the V8 Rover 75 i would be tempted to part with my own money. At the right price of course.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

I was looking at a DS3 recently and then I remembered the reliability of the old BX and the Xantia - walked away thinking I don't need the aggravation even though the car was on at a really good price (3 months old, pre reg £4k less than list) and then I thought perhaps it was priced to reflect the price crash with new Citreons0

Lucky he didn't get the 75 with the 1.8 K series engine like I did, got rid after three head gasket failures.0 -
The Exclusive is their top the range with the sphere hydraulic suspension. In France most people stick to the basic configuration as these usually reliable. If you like all the toys stay away, there are better electrics to be had in anything Korean/German etc'Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

How long has your Dad had the car for?0 -
None of those issues sound particularly major0
