due to an accident and possible write off of my car, a ford fiesta. i mat be looking for a new car and have narrowed it down to a ford KA or a toyota EYGO.
having had a ford for the last 7 yrs i know what to expect. but i do keep looking at the EYGO.
i dont need a big car as there is only myself and possible the OH who travel in it. i travel a 20 mile round trip to work each day, which isnt far i know but fuel economy is a factor as is reliability, but like everything you get good and bad.

The Ford KA is 70% Fiat 500 (built in the same factory)
The Aygo is the same as the Citroen C1 and Peugeot's 107

Both good cars KA is only 3 door Aygo is 3 or 5
KA has better interior (no painted metal inside)

    As above.

Out of Toyota and Ford, I would go Ford. But if you are considering a KA, I would compare it to a 500 first as both are built by Fiat anyway.

Difficult to drive anywhere without seeing at least one 500 so they obviously must be OK.

    Toyota every time.

Are you sure you want such a small car though? An Aygo or a KA is a step downwards in terms of refinement and comfort, compared to your Fiesta.

Toyota by a long way - their aftercare is superb even out of warranty. The i10 is worth a look too imo.

Why not another fiesta? If it aint broke...
  • Get the aygo, We run them as our meter reading fleet cars They take a hell of a thrashing off us, mines on 35 k with no probs at all . Our last lot of Corsas were always breaking down, steering failing, clutches etcs. Also if you drive steady you can actually get nearly 60 mpg

i get what you are saying, but we dont have children, on very rare occasions there may be a couple of passengers and running costs a low.
and if i want refinement and comfort i can get the OH to drive his car an audi A4.

How did you get as far as shortlisting the Toyota without knowing how to spell it?;)

My cousin has an Aygo and is very happy with it. Had it about two years from new. As far as I know nothing has gone wrong with it and she gets excellent mpg even though most of her journeys are local.
  • I would always go for a Toyota over a Ford.

My daughter was car hunting recently for her first car, and was looking at KAs. But I have been told by so many people (who have owned them), to avoid like the plague due to issues with quality and handling. Now I don't know, but this may just apply to older models.
