Our pup is terrified of one cat. Cat has never touched him and literally couldn't give a toss around him, but if cat is blocking the stairs and you call him, he will stay downstairs.
The other cat however he has quite the affection for and will quite happy try and give him a good bumming if the cat is in reach.

All of them go into hiding when the hoover comes out, which is quite strange for the cat who keeps getting bum-love by the pup because he normally has nerves of steel.

Edit: Also reminded me of a time when we first got bum-love cat and he was only a kitten. We have windows by the front door which he sits and surveys his kingdom from. He was sat there one day when this huge boxer suddenly ran up to the window. He lept about two foot up into the air and then ran into the living room, p*ssing as he ran. There was a line of pee from the window to behind the sofa. He came straight back out and went straight back to the window though!
  • Lol @ stairs thing. The dog does that too! Will not walk past one of the Bengals at all. You have to literally guide him round the cat. The other dog just barks at the cat to move out the way.

I do hope Rocky was your dog and not your OH!:)

    Yes, definitely the dog :rotfl:

He's really not the bravest, poor thing.

He's not a barky dog at all, he lets out the occasional low growl at his nemesis the window cleaner, but I think that's probably only when I'm here, I suspect he would be too scared if he was home alone, in case the window cleaner heard him.

I have only known him really bark twice, in the six years or so I have had him. Once was at a snowman! The other time, we were have an evening walk on a beach. and a couple were having a romantic cuddle near the sea- he really took offence to them for some reason, and started jumping in a circle around them doing big-dog barks. I was mortified, and never did work out what his problem was! That was about 5 years ago.

Two DDBs that don't even know the meaning of the word "wussy"... fireworks, hoover, thunder. I don't know of anything that spooks them but I put it down to them being a bit thick.
Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!

Andre the cat is scared of seagulls. Which is really unfortunate as we live by the seaside so there are usually quite a few of them! Gizmo is mostly normal and just has a healthy respect for the Fearsome Hoover Machine.

Bum-love cat loves birds/seagulls/anything with wings. He will sit at his survey window for hours making the clicky noise.

The talk of dogs being scared of cats reminds me of this youtube clip I saw the other day...

  • My big ginger boy cat is a wuss when it comes to having flea treatment drops put on the back of his neck. It's a two-person job - one to hang on to him for dear life and the other to part the fur and administer. He runs off outside afterwards as if he's been shot and sulks till the next day. Our other cat (no longer with us) was the opposite and would actually purr whilst being treated, totally calm.

Wussy ginger also hates the hoover and the sound of tinfoil. Heaven for him is a pipe cleaner and a cardboard box.
  • My cat is a real scaredy cat, I suspect she had a very quiet and sheltered life before we got her, and she still does. She's very very shy with strangers to the point that she runs under the bed as soon as she hears the doorbell. She's scared of noisy things and the hoover of course.

Funniest is when I leave my socks on the bed, or there's a label sticking out of some clothing. She'll do that thing where they approach very suspiciously and when she gets close enough she whacks the socks or label with her paw then runs off!
