Using 'wussy' as in scared of things that shouldn't be scary - not the weak physically meaning.
So, I have a dog who is one of the wussiest dogs I've met. Now, I can understand fireworks and thunder, but a cat coughing?
One of the cats coughed the other day and he went out the room with his usual worried look.
When my partner or I swear he gets upset and sometimes starts crawling/creeping up to us (dog lovers should know what I mean).
Cats playing. He runs out the room if he hears the cat's playing (scratching a scratching post or chasing each other).
When the male cats call for attention.
Yet he acts all macho outside on walks.
So, anyone else got a wussy pet?

hmm - my First dog was a staffy - and scared of nothing - she was quite happy to watch fireworks with the kids! the only time I ever saw her scared and go hide is when we were playing and she accidentaly bit me and caused a massive nosebleed! took me ages to cajole her out from behind settee!
Springer was a bit of a wuss - she didn't mind fireworks, kids shouting playing loud music - but if I raised my voice - she hid under the table! and as the kids never took any notice of me until I shouted................this was a frequent occurrence!
the Cats - all have been laid back - exept Barney - he cannot stand raised voices - they scare him and he goes hides upstairs! good thing its a rare event in chez meritaten!0

My big hairy-scary German Shepherd had to be persuaded to walk past a woodland sculpture at the side of the path a couple of days ago.
He spotted it, jumped behind me, and then hunkered down on the floor to stalk it. He crept up on it, and when he got close enough he charged at it barking and growling! When he realised it wasn't going to react he then circled it a few times before finally deciding it was safe to pee on!0

My 3 year old Apricot Siamese will not have anyone approach him and when you do he cowers like a wuss, but sit down or lie on bed and he bounds up to you no problems.0

Ive just had this conversation with my husband last night, our boiler has broke and we are waiting for a part to come, so i purchased some plug in fan heaters, my dog is scared of them so i have to switch them off when she comes in the room, but now, i brought out the hot water bottles last night, and she is scared of them too.. we have always knew she was a little anxious, but a hot water bottle.. lolol0

Faced with a big dog my Border terrier is like a lion, small dog syndrome! He's scared of raised voices, clapping, the quiet pinging noise the tv sometimes makes, black bin bags, kids scooter's and horse and carts. Plus the usual fireworks, thunder etc.0

My younger dog is scared of a lot of stuff, but I think this stems from her being a rescue as she was very abused, so anyhing remotely out of her comfort zone really scares her. My schnauzer is phased by nothing.
My old retired gundog is terrified of Hoovers. This amuses me as she doesn't bat an eyelid at a shotgun gonig off
The horse I ride has been known to spook at his own shadow, grass changing the direction in which it is blowing, sheep, cows, donkeys and blue wheelie bins. Brown and black ones are fine.0

One of my cats is scared of a lot of things. One example is that she doesn't go outside, but one day she was brave enough to go onto the windowsill. Then a bird flew away, shocked her, and she fell out onto the grass below (ground floor). She sat beneath the window miaowing, refusing to use the cat ladder we have for them even though she uses it inside, and I had to go out there, pick her up and carry her back in...
The same cat HATES the hoover, she runs into the bedroom and hides under the covers. I have to entice her out once we're finished and carry her about until she realises the hoover is now away.0

Cat no 9 is the wussiest but also the biggest - a huge black bruiser. He bangs the knocker on the front door to come in (often at 5am), but if there's another cat in sight he freezes and has to be carried through to the kitchen. If he decides to stay in, he burrows into the industrial box of crisps that we keep in the pantry for DH's lunch packs and no-one knows he's there. Even our tiniest female is too much for him - he nearly wet his knickers yesterday when he realised she was sniffing at him while he was eating. If he'd just be normal, they'd all get used to him and it'd be game over, but 18 months after his arrival and it's showing no real signs of calming down."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000
