Oh Buzby, your like a stuck record. There are vast improvements to having fibre BB, even if its only fibre to the cabinet and then copper to the house.

Ever tried it? It rocks! :j

And for obvious reasons. Ask the OP, is he wanting FTTP ? Of course not - very few are prepared to pay for it. For some reason the 'fibre' mantra is being used by everyone to mis-describe their service delivery. Everyone has fibre to a greater or lesser extent, so unless you HAVE FTTP, you then have twisted pair or co-ax. I have the latter and have 120Mb service. Do I want fibre? Nope - My BB is fast enough.

So whilst you genuinely might 'have fibre' the bulk of populous will never, so why condone such a misdescription? Marketing of it is allowed - and is perverse, we can take this to stupid lengths too, since bog standard ADSL at least uses fibre part of the way - in much the same way as FTTC, so hardly ground-breaking. FTTP on the other hand, IS.

The record may be repetitive, but without correction it misleads and needs to be stated.

The distinction remains an important one.

I suspect to 99.99% (you being the 0.01%) it doesn't matter what it's called. To all intents and purposes they are getting BT Infinity, or Fibre Optic Broadband.

Seriously, nobody cares that the last 20 yards of the line are copper. It's been like this for decades with NTL, Telewest and now Viginmedia... it is fibre broadband.

You're just wearing out your keyboard typing out the same old crusade statement over and over, has it made a difference? Nope.

How do you know they do not want FTTP if it was offered to them at the same price as FTTC which is what I am paying, talking to the Openreach Engineers FTTP is what is being installed in a lot of large residential areas of Cornwall and in those areas there is obviously no need fit new green cabinets.

To keep stating that you can never get fibre is an incorrect statement and misleading as several areas of the country are now getting FTTP and more will be in the near future.
