The University will provide the students with a Council Tax Exemption certificate.

    None.

Unless this a registered HMO..... is it?

You are not the occupant so it is up to the students to either pay the council tax or claim exemption.
  • Students should be exempt and the council tax should only apply to the occupants of the property. I don't see why you will have to pay for council tax.

I am thinking about renting 2 flats and sublet them to students, Can I avoid paying council tax? Cos I heard that if I am renting the whole flat I am the responsible to pay the council tax...

    Thanks a lot

    May I ask why?

I mean what are you hoping to gain from this?

I might assume there are plenty more potential pitfalls than profit making opportunities.
    :www: Progress Report :www:
    Offer accepted: £107'000
    Deposit: £23'000
    Mortgage approved for: £84'000
    Exchanged: 2/3/16
    :T ... complete on 9/3/16 ... :T
  • Ditto, why on earth would you want to take out a tenancy in your name and let it out to students for a property you do not own? If the students trash the place I hope you know that your landlord will hold you liable and not them....

What are you hoping to achieve?
An opinion is just that..... An opinion
