New (old) car, trader, broken, help!

Your first port of call is with the trader and see if he'll repair, replace or refund. If that doesn't work, and with a car that drove off the forecourt and was used for a few weeks, it might not, then carefully consider your next step. The car is passed its best so don't go throwing money at a car that is realistically worth, in gro, £1000.0

Can you PM me the company name as is written on receipt
photo it if you have to so I can look for any clues.
Also call the dealer and inform him there is a major fault with the car, and ask them what they intend to do to rectify the situation.Be happy...;)0 -
spacey2012 you really do have a hang up with traders. Did you sue what you thought was an incorporated body and find it was just a man of straw?0

Update -
Dealer flat bedded the car off to a gearbox specialist 40 miles away, who after 2 days apparently 'fixed' it by cleaning some connections and recalibrating it. We had to get 30 miles to the garage to collect it via public transport, dealer paid the garages bill. Drove home fine, a day later and it is now dropping back into N and getting stuck again, although less frequently it will no doubt get progressively worse again until it stops working altogether.
Contacted dealer again and they want to pick it up and send it back to the same garage, again. The pump needs replacing, it has been plugged into Fiat diagnostics by a specialist but they won't listen/don't want to pay for a pump and seem to be insisting on cheap bodge jobs.
Do I have to let them take it off to (not) fix it again or can I just ask for my money back?0 -
Personally. I would probably give them another chance as they haven't tried to weasel out so far. If the problem continues then try rejecting it.Je suis sabot...0

May be the garage who did the repair told the dealer that it didn't need a new pump & just needed the actuator arm adjusted.
You have to remember that sometimes one thing being out of adjustment can cause another part to show a failure error even though there may be nothing wrong with it.Never Knowingly Understood.
