New (old) car, trader, broken, help!
Purchased a Fiat Stilo Abarth 2.4 selespeed semi-auto from a second hand dealership 4 weeks ago. Came with a list of advisories/problems we were made aware of and have fixed in the last 4 weeks however now on slow down/stopping the gearbox drops down to N and gets stuck there so car is unable to move.
Local garage say new gearbox pump is needed, which apparently cannot be purchased without an aculator so it's looking like a 1k+ bill, on a 2k (if that) car. Car came with a 3 month warranty but that only covers up to £500, and that's if they will even help!
After 4 weeks do we have any rights at all with the dealership, can we ask for a refund, for them to fix it, anything?

Probably. But do not have anything done to it BEFORE reporting the issue to the seller.
In the meantime I may be useful to answer Retrogamer's post.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
I had the exact same issue with an Alfa Romeo 156 selespeed I had back in the day.
Can't tell you how to fix it as it was the straw that broke the camels back with me and I sold the car with it still busted just to get rid0 -

Receipt doesn't show whether it is a LTD or sole trader, is there another way to find out?0 -

Actuator arm adjustment.
If I had £1 for every time that question popped up on alfadriver / alfaowner / etc, I'd have enough money for an 8C.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

How much did you pay for it and what does it say on the receipt about the seller? I.e. company or trading name, address, proprietor's name etc?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
1.4k for p/x and £500 cash. Receipt shows company name (d***y car centre) and address.0

First step is to contact them and report the issue and see what response you get. They should have the opportunity to inspect and rectify in the first instance. It maybe the case they will ask you to get it to a Fiat dealer for a diagnostic check. Make sure that if they do that, that they should pay for it.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

If its the pump I think then it only costs about three hundred quid from Alfa (0051736315) which is a fairly quick easy fit and another common cause of jumping out of gear is low hydraulic fluid level0
