Morning
my kitchen is being installed today and there is a blue box with a digital reading on it installed on the mains water supply , saying it`s a water flow meter , it isnt branded to any water company
What is this , and why is it there?

Post a pic...
What do you mean buy a water flow meter (as opposed to a water meter)? Water meters aren't generally 'branded' to a regional supplier, since there can only be one supplier in a region.
Does the meter serial number on your bill match the number on the outside meter? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Im just going to ask my builder to send me a pic........the one outside is the same serial number as my bill , and also , matched with the previous owners reading
This might be why the previous owners ticked `no meter` on the property form when we bought ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -

Well , anglian water have no idea who or why it`s there , i called the company who made it and they said one possibility is a previous owner didnt trust the water companys readings and wanted to make sure he wasnt getting ripped off...Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0

It's a water meter calibrated as stated in cubic meters. Why you now have two is beyond comprehension, unless the second one has remote readout facility to save them digging to fit same on outside meterYou scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

I know , crazy isnt it , but as long as AW agree the serial number and location of the meter they KNOW about (which they have) then it`s mine to dispose of as i see fit
I havent got contact details for the owner i suspect might have had it fitted otherwise i might have askedNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -

Another possibility is that a previous occupier installed it to see if they would be better off paying water rates or having a waterboard meter installed .0 -
