Is my Dad paying too much for Sky?

Hi,
I don't have Sky myself so I'm not sure on costs but I found out today that my dad pays £59 per month which seems a lot.

He has one Sky+ HD box and subscribes to HD and Sky Sports.
He does not have movies.
His telephone and broadband are through BT not Sky.

He has been with Sky for years, probably about 20 and has never haggled the price with them, just taken any price increases.

Is he paying too much?
If so, what can we do to get the price down and how much is reasonable?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Its the normal bog standard rate.

I'm sure if he got broadband/phone through Sky as well it would be cheaper than with BT (also, adding these services on via Quidco/Topcashback will get him some money too)

No harm in asking to cancel (you have to give 31 days notice and you change your mind during this period) to see if this prompts an offer from them. He will have to be sure of following this "threat" through though!

No need to cancel, better to ring up and find out what Sky have to offer. It seems ludicrous to keep BT as supplier of telephone and broadband when receiving them from Sky as a bundle wouldn't work out much more than he currently pays Sky for Tv alone.

Thanks for your replies.
He only signed up to BT infinity in July (when he moved into his current home) so won't be able to change as he is under contract to them.
He is a pensioner who lives alone so there is no way he would risk losing Sky Sports because he watches it a lot. I'll suggest it to him but I doubt he'll threaten to leave.

Hi, could you tell me what that is please?
I know because he has BT infinity he gets a couple of BT sports channels free but I don't believe it shows all the football and rugby matches he likes to watch on Sky Sports.

Because your father has BT Infinity, he can access BT TV over his broadband line and an aerial. Prices start from £5 a month. £15 for Infinity and £5 for TV, plus line rental. This is on a pay per view basis.

Or for £7 a mth one can get 18 internet TV channels -

The above link refers to YouView, but Sky Sports isn't available on that. But its the same deal as a BT Vision box, which does have Sky Sports 1&2 on it.
