Northern debt recovery

hello,

I hope im posting this in the right place.

I am on a payment plan with northern debt recovery an on earlier this week i was supposed to make a payment and i was unable to make this payment and received an email about a home visit from Marshall hoares bailiffs, i have been attempting to contact both parties about changing this months payment date from the 3rd to the 18th when i will be able to pay.

I have made about 20 attempts to contact both Marshall hoares and northern debt recovery and i am met each time with constant music, my longest amount of time on one of these calls is 34 minutes and the only voice i heard was an automated message from NDR.

have they closed down, i know Marshall hoares website is down for maintenance but i know it has been that way for a few months.

does anyone have any advice on what i should do. there has been no contact from either party for the last few days and i have been unable to contact both parties.

thank you for your advice

Give up phoning them as it seems to be not getting you anywhere (and is probably costing a fortune) and get your plan in writing.
You have no control about which department they pass it to. Unless you have been told to call the bailiffs then I would pay northern debt recovery.
Also bear in mind that while Marshall Hoares may well be bailiffs they can't be acting in that capacity for your case if it hasn't been to court. They will only be acting as debt collectors which is a whole different kettle of fish.

  • Contact them in writing only so you have a record of everything.

  • NDR, Marshall Hoares have shut down their call centers... which happened to be located in Tel Aviv.

they have fired all their employees as well.

when did this happen, how long have there call centers been closed the last time i remember speaking to them on the phone was august?

i have checked with company house and it claims both businesses are still active.

what am i supposed to do now, if there is now no way to contact them? all i can think of doing is wait until they contact me by phone or even come to my house.

They won't come to your house. They never did, even before they shut down.

Wait until they send a proper communication - in writing, by post. Until then treat everything as spam.

It sounds like you're paying this off by affordable instalments. You can ignore the empty threats from these idiots.
  • i am paying it off in affordable repayments its just this month i have gone over my budget and will not be able to pay this month installment until the 18th.

    today i recieved this message:

    Dear Mr ******

We have not received an offer we consider reasonable from your debt management company/advisor.
As per the OFT guidelines on Debt Management we are now entitled to, and will, pursue you directly for payment of your outstanding debt.

You need to contact us within 24 hours to come to an arrangement directly with us or we will pass your file onto Bailiffs to pursue.

We will seek a Court Judgment against you followed by a Warrant of Execution to seize goods and/or obtain an attachment of earnings.

We will shortly be registering a "default" on your national credit file which is shared between lenders. This will hinder obtaining any future credit.

We recommend you call us within 24 hours so we can come to an arrangement based on your circumstances.

WARNING: If you do not contact us this WILL be pursued by Bailiffs.

    Yours sincerely,

Are you being serious here ? did you really receive the drivel above ??? what a load of utter tosh, when they say "bailiffs" what they really mean is "doorstep agent" someone with no more authority than next doors cat, NDR are the inhouse debt collectors for the shop direct group, as well as others, they threaten a lot, but do very little else, normal practice is to attempt recovery for a few months, and if unsuccessful it usually gets passed on to another DCA such as Frederickson or 1st crudit, or one of the other fine examples of the debt collection industry, stop attempting to contact them, and don't panic, just make your payment when you can if you want to keep feeding these vultures, nothing is likely to happen.
