No. That is a different NDR.

Shop direct is Nationwide Debt Recovery. Toothfairy and Marshall Hoares are Northern Debt Recovery.

  • on monday i receved this email

    Dear Mr ******

We have not received an offer we consider reasonable from your debt management company/advisor.
As per the OFT guidelines on Debt Management we are now entitled to, and will, pursue you directly for payment of your outstanding debt.

You need to contact us within 24 hours to come to an arrangement directly with us or we will pass your file onto Bailiffs to pursue.

We will seek a Court Judgment against you followed by a Warrant of Execution to seize goods and/or obtain an attachment of earnings.

We will shortly be registering a "default" on your national credit file which is shared between lenders. This will hinder obtaining any future credit.

We recommend you call us within 24 hours so we can come to an arrangement based on your circumstances.

WARNING: If you do not contact us this WILL be pursued by Bailiffs.

    Yours sincerely,

Only if they do get seek a Court Judgment against you and you default on the court order and they apply for a Warrant of Execution, none of which they are going to do. Even then you are notified of the warrant and can suspend it on a N245.

I would say to refer these emails to the OFT but the OFT are well aware of them. The best thing to do is to respond that you want communication by letter then mark these emails as spam.

If you are repaying this and can afford it then just continue until your calculations show that it is paid off.
  • I have had nothing but problems with Northern Debt Recovery. Back in February I arranged a repayment plan of £100 a month on the 5th of each month to clear my arrears of £1,200. I have paid every month and when I pay a few days early their system claims I have not paid and low and behold you get the usual rubbish of bailiffs this and home visit etc etc. Anyway my problem now is they appear to have vanished? You ring them up and it is just music for ages and although the website appears to be active I do not want to pay an installment of £100 for it to not be registered and void.
I have paid this months but again as I was early Marshall Hoares Bailiffs have been bombarding me with threats via email and texts etc and it is doing my head in. I know they have no power as I got in touch with the office for fair trading and they confirmed should a home visit from them ensue they have no legal right to enter as they are a debt company not a bailiff so ring the police. It seems ridiculous we have to do all this work to simply pay off what we owe and where have they gone?! I know they are rogues and I have read all the stories but a debt is a debt and I want to clear my last payment on the 5th of January.
Anyone have any information how to contact them as all their numbers appear to be the same place and that annoying music

Probably they get passed to someone else who bought them for even less pennies on the pound. Do nothing until you know what is happening now. Do not pay them until you know where your money is going.
