KitchenAid owners please help!

Options
We have wanted one of these lovely looking mixers for a while but simply couldn't afford the £420ish to get one.

I was looking around and managed to find a seller on eBay that shipped refurbished units with 6 months warranty from the USA for nearly half price. The feedback was excellent and it was a company that I could check online.

We have received the beauty but I'm not sure if it's working properly or if there is a fault. The machine seems to spin ridiculously fast in the 'stir' and number 2 mode - god only knows how the faster speeds could ever be useful.

Would any KitchenAid owners be willing to take a look of this 15 second clip and advise if theirs is similar? Maybe I'm just being a wuss at the power of the thing

Youtube video clip is HERE

Thanks in advance all

It's actually quite difficult to do comparisons from a video to "real life" (well it is for me). can I suggest that if you need further advice, try showing a few seconds on 1, then move up to 2. I would have found that useful.
I would also say that on my KitchenAid, there is quite a jump in speed from "lowest" to "next speed".
Having said that, it does look very fast to me. You have a 6 month warranty - I would contact them.
  • just looked at mine after viewing the clip

seems more like 4 and 6

What is in the bowl, cream? I know when we whip cream you have to be really really careful as it whips so quickly a few seconds can make it over whipped. It does look faster than ours, but the only way I could really tell was looking at the whisk to see how clear it looked when moving around.

Why not get it checked out anyway, if you're unsure its worth it, especially as a half price kitchenaid is still expensive.

Thanks for responses. It's yorkshire pudding mix. Eggs, flour and milk.

I think I'll contact them anyway.

If I were you I would go with the kitchenaid warranty, the service we have had for a 45 year old machine has always been fantastic.

I have contacted the ebay seller to ask them to remedy the situation. I trust they will deal with it for me. Its just that they have sent the item from the USA and you worry a little.

I've looked again and compared my video to those online and its actually way out in terms of speed but there is also a knocking sound in the motor.

I hope to get a positive response or I will contact eBay and ask for a refund and treat us to the item from John Lewis

Kitchenaid will put it up for you if it has a suspected problem, much easier than shipping to the US as they do do UK repairs.

Would they do a repair of an imported machine do you think? I've called them but they are closed until Monday
