How long should kids bed frame last?

Approx 24 months ago I purchased two metal bed frames from monster beds for my daughters.

When they arrived the holes for the bolts were far too small and I had to buy different bolts.

They were fine up until we moved house a few months ago.

The black plastic clips that snap into the frame and the wooden slats slide into have gone very brittle and every time my 11 year old even sits on her bed one of them snaps and the bed falls through.

I've now used all the spare ones and this morning her bed has given way again.

I've emailed the company twice but had no response, I'm going to call them on Monday but am wondering if this is the expected life of a metal frame or am I entitled to have it sorted out?

Thanks

I'd expect a kid's bed to last until they need a grown up one.

Try phoning them if they're not responding to email.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

They should last as long as an adults, it will however of course depend on things like quality, you can get £30 bed frames, but you cannot expect to them to be very sturdy.

Having just had a look at their website, it does look like most of their products are of the cheap tat variety.
For a start, I find it unusual that a metal bed has wooden slats like those you describe. I've had lots of metal beds in my time, and none ever had this set up. However I once had a wooden bed, and this had a similar slat system. One morning, after 6 months of buying the bed, I was woken up as the slats collapsed because the centre support broke.
The plastic cups were forever breaking, and quite frankly were useless. I eventually binned the (£700 odd!) bed and bought a divan.

They were £120 each without mattress. There is a metal bar in the middle halfway along then the slats and cups. I don't think I'm being unreasonable, I want a replacement as I think they are dangerous and clearly not fit for use! I'm going to call them Monday and try my hardest to get them to change them! With hindsight I could have bought elsewhere, but these are pretty with butterflies and hearts on the top and tail and that's what they wanted.

At £120 for a child's bed I'd expect it to last for years.

I hate those stupid bendy wooden slats in those plastic slots.

Bendy plastic slats are one of the best supports for mattress as they act as as a shock absorber for the mattress, therefore making the mattress last longer.

£120 for a kids bed is cheap, kids beds take much more abuse the adult beds and normally more weight too. Think of an adult sitting on the bed reading a bed time story.

Kids will be kids and will at some stage jump on the bed.

A decent metal frame for a child would be around the £300 mark.

Yes sometimes the plastic caps holding the slats can go brittle with time but these are available to buy on the internet for not a lot.

Also, the bed's purpose isn't to be moved from house to house and/or disassembled and reassembled.

Is it possible that the above might have accelerated/caused the faults described?

You bought a cheap bed, which you have had two years use out of, and you want a free replacement. How long do you think a £120 frame should last for, do you think you should have two years use for free?

The girls sleep at our house only at weekends, so no I don't think they should have broken so soon.

I didn't say I wanted two years use for free I just want a bed that is safe for them!
