Well things have gone from possably salvagable to completly no hoper and lost cause.

I have 2 debt companies chasing me for a mobile phone contract that i allegedly took out when i was 18 at an address i have never even heard of and for littlewoods catalogue again allegedly taen out when i was 18 and at an address i have never heard of Both totalling £378.97

My dd's old nursery have decided to start chasing me again even though they said they would drop it, she got pneumonia and was off for 8 weeks and even though thy were given plenty of warnings she would be off for a while they refused to stop charging me even though their handbook says they will not charge full rate for an urgent or serious condition, go figure aparrently 5% off is a good will gesture. She went back for 3 days then suffered a burst ear drum....not one menber of staff could tell me how or when it happened, who she was with or where it happened?? Again they refused to stop charging me and would her space open and would keep on charging me full rate until i paid up:mad: So out of 9 weeks she went for 5 days and they wanted £1266.00 for the privelage.
They agreed to drop it after i threatened to go to ofsted and the council when the manage admitted she didnt know why she was off at first and questioned me on why i sent her to nursery with a burst ear drum in the first place???

maybe a quick letter to the Head of Education at your council, copied into the owner of the nursery, asking for a full explanation into the burst eardrum, and also why they are in breach of their published parent's handbook may not go amiss.....

have you asked for the CCA's for the 2 mystery debts? and are these debts over 6yrs old???

BTW, think you've done brilliantly :j

Sorry to hear that things aren't going so well for you lauren. Have you tried talking to the citizens advice bureau? They were really helpful to me when I was conned out of some money.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Hi Lauren, Sorry to hear you are having a rough time at present. Have you sent the standard Template letters to the DCA stating you do not acknowledge any debt to them and to please send you a signed copy of the original Consumer Credit Agreement?

Without this they have no legal claim and if you do not recognise the address then it could be anyone. who has opened the account. If you need them I can post up the templates

    Good luck

  • Hi Lauren,

you have done so well, sorry to hear about the horrible nursary making things difficult for you. have you got any kind if signed agreement with them? if you do not have a contract detailing the number of hours and charges for DD's attendence they cannot charge you.if they do, but you gave adequate notice, they still cannot charge you. a strongly worded letter to this effect circulated to the local authority education department should help a lot...

keep us updated, your posts are very funny and thoughtful, its a good start to my morning! :o

  • So sorry you're having all this hassle. You've been an inspiration in the way that you cope with things and I expect this will be no exception, but you should'nt have to go through it all the same.

I really feel for you over the nursery problem. They are supposed to be professionals in the business of looking after other people's children. If they are so hard-hearted over this it makes me wonder how caring they are towards the children they look after. Poor you, as if the worry over your daughter's long and serious illness wasn't bad enough. And then the ear-drum worry and on top of it the totally out-of-order demand for payment by the nursery. It's just not fair is it?

I'm sure you'll get it sorted out though and if I were in your shoes I'd take the advice of the wise posters earlier on in the thread and write to the powers-that-be whether it be Ofsted or the local authority. Nurseries like that one shouldn't be allowed to look after children in my opinion. Rant over!

    Take care of yourself
    Good Luck

I challenged the debt companies over the phone and aparently these become 6 years old next week, although i have been given another set of dates in the post which set these debts at 4 years as i appearently gave a payment 4 years ago??? I really dont understand their logic and i suspect its probably not even legit.

As for the nursery i kinda rang the manager and launched a full scathing attack of her management skills (quite embarrased at that) although they are probably not even fit to be called a kennel.

It just feels like one thing after another BUT its the eldests first day back at school today ( hurray) and then the little monster is at nursery for 3 days this week so i can get my self orgonised for starting my course next week, So so so exited about that.

    Will update soon

I'm so happy, the eldest went back to school on tuesday and the little man has his first whole day at nursery today!!!! Yay the silence is very much welcomed!.

Just sold his old chocco highchair on ebay for £20 (well he still could of used it but we picked up a booster one that attatchesto a normal chair for £3 at a car boot) Sold my old infinty buggy for more than i bought it for and the lady even paid us £15 extra to meet her at a service station AND i have been granted an ALG grant of £30 per week to help with the cost of studying.

I feel like everything is on the up again and can finally sort out my council tax now we get a 25% reduction, oooh i can remember when my council tax was £60 with out any reductions!! Lol.
