The frugal's part 2

I though i might start another thread and let the other diary slip even further in to oblivion.
I have seriously though about giving it up and becming a "normal" person again, joining in on nights out with freinds, going out for romantic meals with my significant other
going to the movies on a whim, getting my hair done and even buying underwear has to involve me calculating the exact price per undie :embarasse top marks to asdas 5 cotton hi-cuts for £2.50 though :T .
I am starting to get sick of my £5 pocket money, im bored of my hair style, i have no fashionable clothes and even though my OH says i look fine i feel like a big "but newly thinner" frump cos i wear the same clothes everyday. jeans and a top, i am actually dreading when it gets really hot because i have nothing to wear not to mention i have no idea what to wear.
I have tried to mini and footless tight combo but any excess post baby stretched skin just engulfs anything with in a ft of my belly button, plus they were my sisters (she is a size8 which i am sadly not) coupled with a punk retro supertight top i just look like a tubby russian ballerina turned prostitute called sveta.
Is this the end of my challenge or just a 4 month itch???
Just to remind my self why i am doing this

For those new here this is the origonal debt diary, i promise i will keep this one updated frequently.

It's a four month itch, don't scratch it'll never get better.:D0

with regards to your hair-would be willing to let a student or junior do it? if you have a local college nearby they are always wanting people to go in and get their hair done (in some places for free) and some hair salons are sometimes looking out for modelsNow im debt free i want to be fat free too!0
-
Only trouble with our college is they only do hairdressing on a thursday and friday and the only time i can get someone to have the mini monster is wednesdays BUT in september i will be able to pop in on my lunch break when i become a fully fledged student.0

HI there
Perhaps you need to read the first page of your other thread again, to remind you WHY you are doing this! It might help you remotivate (is that a real word?) yourself.
I know it is not for everyone, but the charity shops round my area have some really nice stuff in, which you can get for a couple of pounds. Might having a look help?
Well done on the weight loss by the way. I want to lose a stone too, it is just getting time to exercise.....sigh!
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Do you live anywhere near a primark - its great for cheap but ok looking clothes. I bought a shirt and a summer top for £4 each the other day and was well impressed with myself cos i didnt normally go there but as im on a money saving mission i ventured in and came out looking really pleased with myself!
Other than that what about seeing what ebay has to offer on the clothes front?
I know what you mean about being bored with things and not having any money to pamper yourself with. Cos i cant afford to have my hair coloured this month at the hairdressers i took the brave step to dye it myself, the colour was on offer in morrisons so i did it last night and you know what it doesnt look bad im very impressed with myself.
Also i have taken off my nails which i used to have done costing me £16 every 2 weeks and bin a bought a polish from boots for £2.49 to make them look half decent whilst they are getting back to strength and ive just sat here in my lunch break and work and put it on and they look ok too so ive very proud of myself this week!
Just try and look on the positive side try a home pampering night that will make you feel abit better - it does for me anyway xLBM - April 2007Claimed back my bank charges from Natwest - £1196Halifax Credit Card Claiming £467.35 Rec £467.35!/Capital One Card Claiming - £523.92/Barclaycard Claiming - £403.58 Rec £403.58/MBNA Claiming - £584.37 Rec£584.37Proud to be dealing with my debtsUpdate: 2009 - Currently claiming £1900 from Natwest0 -
Dont give in!! Your original post inspired me to cut out the spending on c*ap. I'm not in much debt, but our spending was getting ridiculous and the house was bursting with "stuff" we didnt need. I am so much happier with life now that we are not just throwing money at it, and a big part of this is thanks to you. I'm not at the truly "frugal" stage yet but I'm edging towards it - its much more exciting than spending - you actually have to use your brain!! You might need to treat yourself to something cheap and cheerful to wear for summer (Primark etc are good) and then get back on track. Well done for coming this far.0

PS Most girls in my home town look like tubby russian ballerina prostitutes so it must be the "in" look. xx0

Hi Lauren,
Dont scratch that itch! You have done wonderfully well to get 1/3 of they way through your challenge without many blips. Thats a lot more than some people can say. You really are an inspiration to many people on here and I dont think its a coincedence that there have been many similair challenges started since your epic one.
If you feel you seriously need a break then dont make yourself miserabl;e over it but you will feel so good once you get though this tough patch. If you are going to spend make sure you do it in the best MSE way possible and buy some clothes that are sensible and reusable in different outfits and the college hairdressers sounds ideal if you can wait that long.
Also if your going to start this a as a new thread can you add a link to your original post in the 1st message forthe newbies who dont know of your challenge. maybe one of the mods can lock the orignal oneOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 297 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts0 -
also if you hae a local asda go in see if they have the herbal essence offer (2 for £2.50 and make sure one of them is a bottle with the 'free hair cut offer' proof of purchase necessary. that way you get two for less than the normal price of one plus a hair cut thrown into the bargin. Ok i have just added a link to the first thread and i cant believe i have been going since the 19th feb!!!
I have decided to set myself some goals for the next 4 months and give some things to work towards
Today i am going to treat myself to a chunky belt (either charity shop or on a sale rack from somewhere.
Cut my self in a fringe (i can do these but need to borrow some scissors first)
Get all my old clothes out of the attic and cupboards, if they fit they stay if not its a carboot or ebay, even the special ones i cling on to because it was expensive or when i am a size 6 again i can wear them again....its never going to happen, everything must go......
Take the kids swimming once a month to make up for being such a crappy stingy mum.
Start my own savings pot for my long suffering ben and jerries addiction.0
