Well I've got the results and.........it's exactly what they said before. Probably benign but not sure. I think that the likelihood of benignity(?) might have risen but I dont know really.
Next step is being referred to a specialist. The most likely thing is removal just in case.
For those interested, this has cost me $120 in out of pocket expenses so far. I could go through the public health system and pay pretty much nothing more. I'll go private which is quicker and nicer (e.g. private room, Foxtel (Sky) and internet in the room, wine with dinner etc). I have insurance so this wont be a massive cost. I'll keep tou inforned of how much.
I pay $240/month in insurance for Clan Generali. Mrs Generali and I recover $500 a year of that on glasses plus probably a little more in dental, plus the kids' dental. I also get a tax rebate of about $1, 000 for being insured and so less of a burden on the public system.
I'm pretty relaxed about it for now.0 -
Do you know what the time scales are now Generali?
Things seem to have got rough in the north of the country overnight. Bugslet? Yorkie? Anyone else up north hope you are ok.....0 -
Diagnosis is often as much of an art as a science. Whilst the lack of bad news isn't as satisfying as definitive good news, it is still much better.
Also pleased to hear Zag's lack of bad news. In case anyone is wondering, my friend's mum's hip operation sounds like our went according to plan (hopefully the recovery will too), my dad's MRI also sounds like it went to plan, but won't know any more until the biopsy next week.
As lir, hope the weather hasn't affected anyone too badly...0 -

I've been told it might be up to several weeks for the next available appointment.0 -

Such a shame that Clan Generali don't have worse teeth - just looking at it from the point of view of value for money. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

My Fil finally got an appointment with a specialist yesterday, after a few weeks of waiting and wondering. Apparently she told him that he needn't have worried, and he could have it removed, but if he didn't want to it wouldn't matter.
Needn't have worried !!!!!!!.................where do these Doctors get their empathy training ?? ............ with the Waffen S.S.'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0 -

Please excuse my ignorance but I know nothing of the Aussie tax system (and NI if levied separately). How do you think our tax system compares against the Aussie system, and does your health insurance represent value? Or is it more of a necessity than a value option?Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I had to wait 18 months for one of my diagnoses on a very nasty tumour. In the end, the only way to resolve it was to work with DH and track down the best specialist in the world and ask for it to be sent to them as nobody in the UK could resolve things, including the UK's leading specialist, who in his own right is no slouch.
I had made the mistake of asking them how I would know if I had it without a diagnosis. They told me that if I was still alive in 15 years, then I'd know then that I didn't. I did get a "benign" in the end, but it is still such a difficult diagnosis that I celebrate every year towards the 15. I'm about half way currently. It also explains why I freak out periodically when something else is found. While it is treated as a primary (then generally eliminated as benign anyway), I always worry that it is a secondary.
Having said all that, Gen's will be much more straightforward, I have faith in that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
