As it is a convertible, I'm thinking it may be worthwhile going for the warranty...

I doubt the warranty would cover the soft top.

  • What a great use of my day - left home at half eight, went to Feltham, case got adjourned (back in on 10th March) and I've just got back to town. Would've been a better and cheaper use of my morning to stay in bed!

I love this idea, every time its discussed I go and look at the auction sites locally and see cars I'd drive very happily.

    But I'm too chicken :o

I'm going for a hard top.

TBH I may need to examine T&C's, as if it didn't cover the roof mechanism, then I wouldn't bother with it tbh...

Doozerboy did it. He totally chickened out on the first one he wanted but did get the second. Just wait until you're comfortable or pumping with enough adrenaline to stick your hand up one day. We've been to plenty of property auctions but it as different and he was out of his comfort zone. Ultimately, it was a good choice.

He'd probably go with you. It's easier to spend other people's money :D

I've been googling long thin houses today to try and see what sort of floor plans there are to start getting more concrete ideas for the coach house
I'll link you to every one I come across. In my price bracket about 1/3rd are bizarre/long corridors. Cut downs and converted garages galore....

The thing with taking any risks (eg auction cars) is that you have to have enough financial clout to get you out of trouble if needed.

If you have £1000 in the whole world and need a car that gets you to/from work and one long journey every weekend ...... then it's a risk.

If you have £10,000 in the whole world and spend £1k on a car at auction to do the same trips .... and it breaks down on day 2 it's a nuisance, but not an absolute calamity.
