Soup was good. I think maybe I should try more Chinese cooking and be less nervous of it. I made really good stuff a couple of years ago too.

I asked DH if he thought I could do it with turkey for Lydia's ds one day.

I didn't take this picture but this is the cycle path today that runs by the fields that I walked in the other day and decided not to go back to for a while. On the right is where the brook is supposed to be. It runs through our old garden less than half a mile away.

    It's not working is it?

It looks very wet. Good idea not to go that way for a bit. Did you have Doozerdog with you? Did he get very muddy?

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

If I were S/E I would feel annoyed, but then tick the "employed" box as the closest match, I think.

Similarly, I used to have trouble ages ago, when living in a tied house with LNE's job, with forms that offered a choice between
    Owner - outright
    Owner - with mortgage
    Renting - private
    Renting - social
    Living with parents

Forms are too often written by people with a limited life experience. On the other hand, if you were sitting in that committee room sticking your oar in you'd have been made to feel like sh11te and not bothered to speak out a second time, but simply shrugged and left them to it :)

After I went out to inspect my flood earlier, I went to inspect the source.... to realise it's a dammed (flood defence) pond, a good 4-5' higher than the road level..... and it was leaking from somewhere, towards my house. Then I noticed the flow ebbing..... and I went out a bit later and I think there's an underground "escape route" for it. So, I think it maybe backs up at high tide....... so I'll see early in the morning if it peaks again.

I do seem to be right in a corner/point of a flood awareness scheme area, with the highest colour drawn on the EA map. It's where 3 water sources converge.... although upon further (3rd foray outside) inspection, I think two are feeding in and one's feeding away, via the underground tunnel ...... so, it could be OK ..... but if there's a problem it'll be a sudden/huge one.

We have flood defences around here (river rather than tidal) that fill up when the river overflows and then drain away slowly into another bit of the river further down. It's supposed to spread the flood water out over a longer time so that the bit further down the river doesn't flood.

I was given an ethnicity questionnaire when I registered at the GP. 'White and Asian' appears as an option under both 'Mixed' and 'Black and Black British'. I'm pretty sue it's a cut and paste fail, but you'd think a) they would have proof read before giving out a questionnaire that some people might be sensitive about and b) there would be some kind of standard NHS template they could use.
