here I am three hours later and it is....finally working...altough if the unit ever powers off apparently it needs to be done all over again
Put masking tape over the power button to make sure no [STRIKE]half-wit[/STRIKE] loved family member turns it off by mistake?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

My maternal uncle won the prize for "least intelligible comment to a child" when he said to Isaac, "Germany's the only country in the EU which doesn't have a structural budget deficit." He's a very clever, well-educated, interesting man, with apparently absolutely no concept of what even a fairly bright 8 year old might understand.0 -
Fair to say, the audience apart from Isaac was divided between don't knows and don't cares.....
I do have a vague idea what it means - I think it means that Germany's not running a budget deficit in good times as well as bad. While the rest of the EU is in trouble with govt borrowing even while not in recession. Something like that. Generali can tell me all the ways in which I've misunderstood that, though!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Our cardboard now needs to go in the brown bin rather than the green. This leaves the green bin completely empty and the brown bin overflowing.
Interesting article in The Times that says councils are patting themselves on the back for increasing recycling but a lot of the increase is people lobbing their garden waste into a green bin rather than composting it themselves.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Having ranted about bins, I'll say something good now. Our cardboard collection changed last year/ beginning of this year to be in its own wheelie with plastic bottles. Its fab. Alternate weeks with normal wheelie. Its the only rubbish collection I use.
For those talking about council tax payments our council get so rethink like £1.34 per household. It will cost them more than that from the village before us to our place and our neighbours' in fuel and certainly man time, so we are winners on that score. I've also cost the service a little my erecting a fence in our drive way meaning the swoop turn they used to do ( we are the end of the line) to return is now a three point one. In a decade or so that will be even harder for them when I have gates, or more clients cars there or what ever.0 -
Just tried to go outside again/take some snaps - it's mental out there! Far too dangerous to be wandering around looking .....0

We have a plethora of recycling bins of different shapes and sizes. I'm unsure what you should put in each but I do know the sound they make when the bin men throw them back over our hedge at 5am.0

Pretty much there.
What it means is that if you spread Government deficits and surpluses over a cycle of boom and bust, Germany's not increasing her debt:GDP ratio. Other countries are.
It's a bit like someone who gets an annual bonus and builds up his overdraft during the year in anticipation of it. Over the year, net borrowing is nil.0 -
We have three bins, one for garden waste, another for recycling and then the one for general rubbish.
We did (at one point) have a crate for newspapers and magazines but mine went flying down the road in a gale and under the wheels of the recycling lorry years ago...plus they phased them out when the recycling bin came in.
NDG - Hehe, nope she doesn't look anything like me.
Long day yesterday as we took James back to uni, traffic was a nightmare and my back, after days of abuse since my wheelchair broke, was equally bad. Mind you, at least it gave me and lovverrr a chance to have some time to ourselves, albeit in a traffic jam on the M25, the only chance we have had during the school holidays. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Got up, looked out of window, back in bed now!0
