Having looked on their site it says CIFAS stays on the record for a minimum of a year and it depends on the length of time the fraud was being committed over.

I may advance a small amount for a new employee, but certainly not as much as £1000. You're maybe looking at the £250 mark after a week, and the salary (minus £250) on first payday.

This is going to be a very valid point, and one that OP needs to answer.

OP will have a CIFAS marker on his file.

You are three years wiser so please answer this - which job gives you £1000 upfront?

My last 3 jobs have given sign on bonuses much higher than this so not exactly a rarity.

Oddly enough no, mostly off that rather confused dating site Linkedin.

What qualities do you have, though?

We've offered FAR higher than that in the case of experienced staff (I was mentioning inexperienced staff above), I think the highest being around £40,000, with a 'can you move from East Russia' going with that.

The condition to this, is having to stay with a company for x years (we usually work of £10,000 a year).

In OP's case, to work a week for the first weeks advance, then the other three at payday is far more common scenario IME.

I have more than 13 years experience working in the pharmaceutical industry managing clinical trials across the globe and budgets in excess of $50 million.

My upfront payment usually come with some sort of tie-in clause but I ensure that this is minimal so I have the flexibility to move on when it suits me.

There are usually some good relocation packages going too, I've not had to move from East Russia (Moscow was cold enough), but when I relocated from Berkshire to Sussex my new company paid me cash for my old house (around £350k if I remember correctly), covered all of my moving expenses (legals, stamp duty, removalists, etc), paid a generous sign on bonus and also a mortgage contribution for the first few years.

Just pointing out some professions do offer up front payments that may be structured in all sorts of ways....although the OP was clearly scammed as a naive 18 year old.
