I've recently had blurb from everlasting boilers who are part of 'a shade greener'. Worth looking at as there is no up front cost. It is more like a service plan for life with the boiler thrown in. From £19 per month. Was meaning to look into it myself. I prefer paying 4 things outright, but at that rate it would take 10 years before I'd paid out 2500. Possibly worth a look.

Well the advertising blurb has achieved its aim of fooling you.

It is £19 a month for the first 6 months - then doubles to £38 a month.

Just read a 5 page 'oldish' thread on MSE by doing a google search.

    Looks like a way forward...

But can anyone update the situation please?

Some say ya, some say stay away, you'll pay over the odds.

But how? It's ONE monthly payment for EVERYTHING - servicing / repairs etc.

It costs £38 a month, and is certainly worth considering for some people.
Our credit rating is poor, as we've just come out of a debt management plan, so doubt we'll be accepted for a loan or even a credit card to get a new boiler.

I suspect your poor credit rating might be a problem in getting the company to accept you??

To be fair that is very well explained in the literature. My son had a boiler installed by them in March last year. The install was efficient and he has had no issues at all with it.

He had renovated the property and didn't have any more cash left when the boiler broke down, so he looked into this scheme. We pay £20 per month for a service package on our boiler and have done for years, so when you factor that in, for him, it seemed a reasonable deal. It may not be for everyone but it is worth a look.

ETA as it is a govt backed scheme which has to be available to all they do not carry out credit checks.

Certainly agree about it being well explained when you read the literature, but surely the only purpose of the 'headline figure' of £19 a month is to attract people who don't read the full blurb.

I wasn't aware it is a Government backed scheme. Where did you get that information?

It isn't part of the Warm Front scheme.

It was explained to my son when the rep came out. There was no pressure, quite the reverse actually. The scheme is approved by the Govt and one of the conditions was that no one should be disbarred because of bad credit.

With respect Government 'Approved' and Government 'Backed' are very different; even then I cannot see anything on the website about it being Government 'Approved'.

I suppose as only house owners can sign the agreement, if people fail to pay, the company can secure their debt against the house or remove the boiler, so no need for credit checks.

Whilst I accept that this scheme makes sense for those with boilers on its last legs,(and not capital), what annoys me about this type of advert is the claims they make or rather imply.

    http://everlastingboilers.co.uk/product/

They make a big thing about their boiler and WHICH, and yet it isn't a WHICH best buy.

    http://www.which.co.uk/home-and-garden/heating-water-and-electricity/reviews/boilers/viessmann-vitodens-100-w-p29/review/

They claim an 'efficiency rating of up to 97.7%.' WHICH give Hot water efficiency of 62.4% and CH at 89.1% - actually good results.

Their gas savings are quoted as 'about £300'. Given that WHICH state this boiler is 'suitable for small homes' it would only be in exceptional circumstances that savings of £300 would be made. i.e. huge gas consumption, with a really ancient boiler, paying for gas on a very expensive tariff.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors stated recently :

The average cost of installing one of these modern boilers is £1,720, but saves on average just £95 off people's gas bills." See:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...erts-warn.html

That was about 4 years ago, but it puts savings into perspective.

Poor credit, just out of a DMP, but you're prepared to shell out £3.5K plus a penurious rate of interest for x years for a new boiler-when all yours may require is a part costing a few quid and a decent independent RGI who knews your model? May just be a small electrical fault or a divertor valve? What's the make and model?
Nothing that you have said indicates that you 'need a new boiler', so it really doesn't add up. And based on what you've said, you may not get offered any finance anyway-it's a lender's market now.

Is there something I am missing while trawling their site?

The only Everlasting option is a combi boiler. Do you already have a combi? If not, then do you even know if your water pressure and flow are suitable for one?
I'd also run a mile from any company saying that they will remove and reinstall a boiler in one working day, including a flush. That means a rushed cowboy install and subcontracted labour.
I also suspect that if you already have a hot water tank, the price will not include the removal of that. They'll just cap it off.
It's also unclear what happens after 10 years, or when you sell the property-it's almost certain that you would have to buy out the remaining contract unless the purchaser wants to take it on.
To say that their website is short on detail is an understatement.
