For the second time this bl**dy laptop has seized on me and the touchpad just stops working. I can move the cursor but when I click the touchpad nothing happens.
I know it's something I am doing but I cant see what it is!! I have to switch it off and leave it for half an hour then switch back on and it's ok. Any ideas??

Would help if you gave us the make and model.
Does it work with a mouse?

I haven't got a mouse so I don't know. It is something that I'm doing I think. The pointer thingy works but tapping the touchpad doesn't. It isn't locked onto the touchscreen either because this laptop hasn't got one.
It's a Toshiba Satellite but I can't find the model number. it was just under £700
    EDITED- it's this one

Is this a persistent problem? As when I used to have technical issues with my old Toshiba I used to do a complete restore back to its factory settings and it would usually fix things, be warned though you would need to back up everything as this literally wipes the whole computer and resets it back to how it would be when you buy one new.

Failing that, you could ring up your local PC World and ask for their advice?

    Hope this helps.

If the PC was bought from John Lewis, then I would ring John Lewis first. If it's faulty and the laptop is fairly new, then JL should fix it.

But is it faulty? Or is it me? lol Am I hitting some key that's doing something I'm not aware of?

Could be... this video seems to suggest that on some Toshibas, Fn-F5 will do it.

Yes, I already found this out lol cos I did that too. But I think this is something different because I tested that.
    I hate windows 8 :(
I wonder if it is a fault in the laptop then.

I assume that this is said in jest?
No one in their right mind would expect to get any sensible tech advice from DSG, even if they were foolish enough to buy it from from them. Toshiba tech support would be a better option.
OP, if you hate W8, then bung Classic Shell on it and it will look just like W7 (or Vista or XP if you must).

I hate the way I touch keys and weird things happen :) like second screen , I think the problem is me not the laptop. But this thing with the touchpad is seriously bugging me and nobody seems to understand it. Maybe it is a fault in the laptop, I didn't really think it was that, just thought it was me doing something. :( Might phone John Lewis then . Thanks.

I would take the lap top into the store. Easier to demonstrate your problem than describe over the phone. If it is simple the techie may sort it there and then.
