    Not counting the pay for the days that you work back when you take holidays and any other overtime is your Gross pay about £18130 per year?

    Yes roughly it is, our pay is the same week in week out no matter what

    OK that covers your working hours + about 9 days extra.
    You said at the start that you get paid for 'stats'.
    I guess that means bank and public holidays, so 8/9 days would be about right.


    Do you know, or can you find out how much the day shift are paid per hour?

    Do you mean normal day shift?

    to start with this has you working 51/52 weeks a year, that is something that needs addressing.

    also the hours are inconsidtant Year on Year.
    2013 52 weeks, 165 shifts, 1980hr
    2014 51 weeks, 163 shifts, 1956hr

    you say you get paid £19129.60 and the rate should be £9.25

    so thats 2068 hours, around 172.3 shifts so that would include the BH.


    Inconvenience pay whats that? you need to claify how that is calculated.

    forgetting that and thinking just about the holiday

    as you work going back to the 1960 and get paid £19129.60.

    foir those hours you also should get paid for holiday hours of 236.6 total 2196.6 that makes your average hourly pay rate around £8.71.

    if there is a inconvenience allowance in there you need to take that off as well.

    as above post asks, what hourly rate do the "normal" workers get.

    Sorry, I got it into my head that you worked nights.


    I mean the hourly rate of the people who do the same kind of work as you but don't have an annualised hours contract.
    The ones who can book holidays as normal and don't have to work them back.

    OK, then the union are correct.
    Your holiday pay and any shift or unsociable hours allowances are included in our hourly rate.

    Look at it this way:
    A day shift worker would be paid £15562.40 for working 1960 hours.
    You are paid £18130 for 1960 hours.
    The difference of £2567.60 would pay for your 23ish days holiday.
    The extra £1000 that you receive in your total of £19129.60 would be for the allowances.

    The thing that makes your contract different is that in most annualised contracts there would be a few blocks of one or two weeks marked as holiday in the rota.
    However, this means that unless a swap can be arranged you're stuck with the holiday periods the employer allocates.

    On balance, I think that the way your employer does it is better because you have the freedom to decide when to take holidays yourself instead of having to change the existing schedule.

    To comply with the WTR your employer should be expecting that you actually take at least 20 days (including BHs) off as holiday each year.
