David.! Tom has quite enough ladies (in various states of undress) to be dealing with without adding me into the mix
He's the thread's Mr Darcy and his bungalow is Pemberley. I've decided.
I'm also quite tipsy so I'll bid you all goodnight.
there are no ladies in my life - or, come to think of it, any common-as-muck women either i shall have you know
nor do i need any - i am a simple tom living a simple life and would like to keep it that way
pemberley eh? no i dont live in derbyshire although i have holidayed there and found it to be a very scenic and pleasurable place. i am somewhat west of there - although not quite as far west as the u s of a0 -
Multiple stuff to do but haven't done anything yet..........
Ironing
Wrap final presents
Make sausage rolls
[STRIKE]Go to Argos & pick up interesting jigsaw to keep my Parents amused :T
And the faux red leather ottomanIt will fit nicely in corner & hide the jigsaw pile
[/STRIKE]
Go to Ts & get more Heinz tableware as now 25p a pack of napkins, cups, tablecloths etc - you can never have too many napkins.......
2 things done
But............. Barnardos have reduced their Christmas cards already. Fabulous quality packs of 10 for 99p or less.
Individual cards 9p
4 sheets of wrapping paper & tags - 19p (some has an oriental scene which I use as birthday)
Large gift bags - 19p
Advent Calender 29p
So I know I said no more cards or wrapping paper but....:o
The Ottoman was so easy to put together. It unfolds :T:T
Off to Ts now as we promised the Butcher on Deli a photo we took of him at Antiques Roadshow months ago.
So I've printed & framed it
And I can get Heinz tableware :T
Still to do
Ironing
Wrap final presents
Make sausage rollsOur Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...

I was given custody and the house but couldn't cope with being out of work so their mother had them back! For years she used that against me so I got my kids all I could afford and this has continued now that they have grown up and each have a kid of their own, even more so now I have grand children! What narks me is that since I've been on here, my eldest DD seems to expect the free food parcels, the other 2 are fine, but I can't help but not give all 3 of them the same. How do I resolve this without upsetting anyone?
I suppose the answer is is give them what you can afford to from glitches throughout the year and then at christmas ask for ideas of things they would like and buy a present. Don't be affraid to tell them what your budget is for each child/grandchild. A budget is what you can afford NOT what they expect you to afford. Then happy child with something for xmas (which is a suprise and happy dad as only spent what he can afford to.
Maybe leave gifts with someone they will see on the day as opening before 25th really is not on.
Hope that helps you scamps. Let them know at christmas what the rules are for next years gifts and stick to it.
Personally my kids are getting £100 per household which they can spend on their kids, themselves or food. Dgc are both getting the equivilant of £50 spent on them. Helping dd with xmas food as me and dad will be there.
My rule for birthdays is tell me what you want and you might get lucky within reason. Tell me you want money and you get £20 this has not changed for years.
Pride can get in the way. Your children run households now so know what things cost. Maybe offer your dd1 the occasional job helping you at the bootsales so she knows how hard you have to work for your money.
