I've always over compensated with my 3 kids 'cos their mother and I split nearly 20 years ago when the youngest was still in nappies. I was given custody and the house but couldn't cope with being out of work so their mother had them back! For years she used that against me so I got my kids all I could afford and this has continued now that they have grown up and each have a kid of their own, even more so now I have grand children! What narks me is that since I've been on here, my eldest DD seems to expect the free food parcels, the other 2 are fine, but I can't help but not give all 3 of them the same. How do I resolve this without upsetting anyone? :(

That makes me very sad for them. My mum always organised christmas, my dad I guess paid it really but he never shopped. In all my life he bought me three gifts by himself. A glass peacock ornament from Turkey and a 10p doormat and a can of bacon grill , which styaed in my fridge for five years. I was delighted with all. He has been gone 7 seven christmas' now and I would give every penny in the bank just to see him one more time.

They are damn well lucky to have you.

    good morning
whats happening to night shift lately noot much to read back on guess you are all busy with christmas miss reading all your banter x
nearly all done for christmas looking for some nice cakes but cant seem to find anything in the shops, so thinking might have to get into the kitchen and do some myself anyone got any easy recipes please like a nice cheesecake x

Try this one, I've made it several times and it's gorgeous, plus you can adapt it to whatever flavours you like :D

    Ingredients

180g digestive biscuits, crushed into fine crumbs
    75g butter, melted
    500g full fat cream cheese
    100g icing sugar
    200ml double cream, whipped
    1 tsp of vanilla essence

    Method

    1. Grease and line a deep, round cake tin (if you've got one with a removable base it'll be easier to take it out)
    2. Add melted butter and digestive biscuit crumbs together and mix thoroughly.
    3. Place butter and biscuit mixture into prepared tin, pressing down firmly and evenly, until flat. Place in the refrigerator until set (about 30 mins).
    4. Beat cream cheese and icing sugar together until well mixed.
    5. Add vanilla essence and carefully fold into whipped double cream. (Do not add cream all at once).
    6. Empty mixture into cake tin, spreading evenly, and set in the fridge for about an hour.
    7. Top with fruit/tinned fruit/caramel sauce etc. Enjoy!
