And find out the name of your local MP and councillor, and the councillor responsible for housing at the council, to drop into the conversation as well.

(thanx for pm, midwinter ... happy to offer advice if it's something I know a little about.)

Well, that's it from me tonight ... goodnight one and all.

Met up with 2 friends today, and we couldnt believe how bad we are all feeling at the mo. I've got my son with cancer and disabled as a result, one friends mum died recently and her father becauseof depression had stopped taking blood pressure medication, so had a severe stroke, and the other;s neice, who is like her daughter, has just had a double mastectomy and starts chemo week after christmas, for second time. Sometimes life sucks.

But we had the best laugh, black senses of humour all round.

Troubles never arrive singly, Imdebtfree, they always bring a few friends along for the ride. I know you are having a tough time at the moment.

Please know that there are a lot of people on here who've had a wide variety of experience of life - of all of the best and the worst it has to offer. I hope you feel you can come here and offload and get some support, some motivation and some diversion from your present troubles.

You don't have to pretend here :A.
    Hope is not a strategy.

This post is for people living in Norfolk. Nominate someone deserving for a hamper.
    :j:T:j

Do you know someone deserving who would appreciate a Christmas Hamper delivered free to the door next monday. People can be nominated for various reasons, hard up, had a hard year, poor health, done lots for others, ect etc.

An organisation I know details of still has spare hampers and are unbelievably short of nominations.

I don't want to post the details directly on here but if you know someone in this area please PM me for details.... I know many folk just lurk, well you are welcome to PM me if you think you can put a good case forward for someone. :A

:A Should have said you don't need to send me details of why you want to nominate, just ask me for the link to a nomination form. :A

    Thanks Bubbs,
One was originally good news, I was offered a brand new housing association place, signed contract 4pm Friday, thought about it over weekend & decided tostruggle on with mortgage to stay in my own home. Rang them 8.30 Monday morning to cancel. Today they rang to say they want 28 days notice & I'm liable for the rent. Haven't even got the keys!!:eek:
Second news is potentially devasting relating to close family member
:(:( can't get my head around it yet, not really sinking in.

Post on the housing board. Plenty tenancy experts over there, even if they aren't as huggy as over here.

I read somewhere that a tenancy is formed only if you take possession of the property/ keys and/or money changes hands. Without one of those two events occurring it is "only" a straightforward contractual obligation. In any contract, the other party has a duty to mitigate losses, so if the HA can find someone else to take the contract you should be off the hook.
