Hi,
Im not very experienced with selling on ebay but just sold a PS4. The winning bidder has only 1 feedback from an item he bought yesterday. I'm concerned as I looked up his address and its registered to a cafe in London!
Ive sent him a message about this asking him to confirm his address, but no reply yet.
He sent me one message when he won which asked me to send him a paypal invoice and some photos.
If I believe the address to not be his, what options do I have? Especially if he sends money through paypal. Ive heard stories of them somehow getting my package but then saying they did not receive and getting their money back.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated as the item value is £525.
Thanks.

If you send to the confirmed address on paypal then you will be covered. It's quite possible the buyer owns the cafe, works there or possibly lives above it.
Make sure you send the item tracked and fully insured. Note down any serial numbers.
The only thing I find odd is the buyer wanting photos. Can't understand why. I mean, before the listings ends it makes sense to ask for more photos if a seller has not provided enough, but why ask for them after the listing has finished?0 -
I guess Im being a bit paranoid and could all be legit.
I intend to send it by royal mail express delivery (next day 1pm), which says its got insurance upto £500, so presume thats enough to cover myself.
Ive still not heard anything from him. How long do i need to wait before I can possibly offer to next person or re-list?
Thanks.0 -
Until you open a non paying bidder case, Then they fail to pay for it.
Selling it before then could be trouble if they pay later on and you dont have it.
See if you can find out if they have bid on other PS4's.

Read the postage sticky.
Only send it Special Delivery and only to the address you see when you log in to your Paypal account.
If in any doubt whatsoever, post here and WAIT for a reply from someone with some experience (not a new poster who *thinks this or that).
Be under no illusion you are selling a scammable item to what looks at first glance as a dubious buyer. But, it may be perfectly legitimate.
Remember they can chargeback the amount 180 days after purchase, so you need to be thorough and not panic.0 -
I believe the royal mail express next day delivery 1pm service is a special delivery for parcels, so this should be ok.
So has he has not paid, I dont see an address in paypal yet, so will see what that is if he pays. Presume it may be different to the ebay address as he doesnt even have his real name on the ebay details. At least it does not look real.
I just read on ebay, I should wait at least 2 days before opening a non-paying dispute.0 -
You won't see an address in Paypal until he pays. Don't look at the email they will send when he pays, log in, safely and check.
It should also say OK to send.
The delivery by rm is called Special Delivery, not express, don't ask for anything other than Special Delivery. Get a receipt and keep it for 6 months.
Don't worry yet. But if you need help/advice come here first.0 -
A good thing to do is request the buyers details.
Dodgy buyers often have a bogus phone number.
If this is the case, phone ebay and they will cancel the sale as the buyer needs to supply correct contact details.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Do not send any photos - this request is so they can obtain your e-mail address.
Only accept payment through Ebay checkout. Do not get into sending invoices outside of Ebay - there is absolutely no need for a buyer to request that - it's not normal for an Ebay transaction. Possibly he is using a hijacked Paypal account which isn't liked to the Ebay buying account.
This is almost certainly dodgy - the photo request is so they can obtain your e-mail address, likely so they can send fake 'paid' notifications.
This is very likely to be a scam I'm afraid.
Keep everything via Ebay and Ebay messages, and file an Unpaid Item Dispute in two days, as you won't be paid I suspect.0 -

You can send photos through the ebay message system can't you?
I agree though, don't send any photos through email and only deal with the buyer through ebay.0 -
