How to get past the receptionist...

If it is something to be discussed then it will probably warrant an appointment. I highly suspect the consultant does not feel it is urgent to speak to the OP. The secretary has no doubt passed the message on.
OP do you need feedback from the consultant or are you just looking for acknowledgement of the information you are passing?
I would ring again and ask for an email. I would then say to the secretary "could you let Dr x know I called again please?" just in case the consultant has forgotten/mislaid your original message.

Good afternoon:D I went back up to the docs and asked to speak to the GP that had originally told me to ring the consultant, I have just got back in from waiting but it has been sorted, the GP rang the consultant who was busy, the consultant rang back and GP apologized to me and to her for getting it all wrong, wrong person to speak to, put it all right, got an appointment, oodles of apologies, so very happy to sit in the GP surgery all morning to sort it out, so worth it:D:D:D:D0

Very glad you've got it all sorted Victory
So it was GP who had made a mistake? It's so difficult when something like that happens - you're doing what you think you need to do, on medical advice, and you keep getting ignored. If consultant had just said to their secretary in the first place "they need to go back to their GP", it would all have been sorted 4 days ago. As it was, you were left as piggy in the middle not knowing where to go next. Very frustrating.
But glad it's all doneMortgage when started: £330,995
