I would TRY to chill out, but it's not easy. Easier if they're not under your nose - DS1 never drank at home but has started now he's away at Uni, but at least I don't see what he's getting up to.

I did (and still do) remind them NOT to get into a car with someone who's been drinking or they feel is unsafe. Fortunately they don't mind walking home ...

And as for staying out: if they're at home, they're to let me know if they're not going to be back when I'm expecting them. So for DS3 (15) he's to let me know if he's going to a friend's house straight from school, DS2 (17) is to let me know if he'll be home from school later than 6 pm - for each of them we'll negotiate on evening goings out - and DS1 does his own thing when home from Uni on the understanding we'll text him if we want to go to bed so we don't lie awake worrying!

EVERYONE is to let me know if they won't be home for a meal I might reasonably have prepared for them!

Now, during the 'difficult' pre-lightbulb phase, could loans be earned? Yes, I'll lend you £10, but you'll need to cut the grass. OK, you haven't got that £10 you borrowed from your brother, so he can be let off washing up and you can do his share until you HAVE repaid him.

After all, it's how the rest of us make our money - we work for it! :rotfl:
