O/S Daily Thursday 5 December 2013

Options
OS Daily Thursday 5th December 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Still dark, very blustery, and temperature really dropped yesterday afternoon.

DH up and getting ready for work at normal time.

Dinner last night was LO roast lamb, new pots, carrots, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight I'm not really sure but have reasonable stocks so will be able to organise something.

Work was busy again yesterday, and IT dept have now replaced 1 of the problem pc's, and they will know over the next couple of days if that has sorted the problem we've been having with some payments. The other pc at the desk I usually use is going to be taken away and replaced in the same way within the next few weeks - hoping it solves the problem.

Took the car to the garage yesterday - so will collect it when it's done, will be either later today or tomorrow.

Have all the normal jobs to do - must get cracking as still have xmas stuff to organise too. I'm thinking I will get up early on Saturday and go to next town to get the last few bits as I can't get them here. Would like to be back by 10-10.30am'ish - before it gets busy! Haven't even written a xmas card as yet nor got DS1's birthday organised and it's on Monday - so really need to get my head down over the next couple of days and get organised. Will get going with the washing, drying and ironing and housework today. Need to do some baking too, menfolk are moaning again nothing in the tins!

    Keep safe and well x

Julie67 So pleased it's sorted :D Your dentist sounds like my old one. He was rubbish. My new one is fab, the hygenist at his practice is fab, and the woman I was referred to for sedation is also fab :D

That laptop still isn't quite right but I will not be defeated :D I'll have another go at it today.

I pinned and sewed the hems on my curtains the other day. Well I thought I did, one is hemmed and the other still has pins in it :D Will do that today.

Most of the day will be spent crocheting. I'm making a baby ripple blanket for my nephew. When E had her scan, they were 99% sure it's a boy - I suppose that's a normal thing for them to say, just in case it's wrong? I've used lemon and white this time, just in case :D I was searching for patterns for little stars and couldn't find what I wanted so I made one up. I'm quite pleased with it so I'll make a few more and chain them into a garland.

    Morning all,

Hard frost here this morning, they said it would be the same for the next few days. Off to work for me it will be a long day as I did not sleep well, I will be fine once I am there.

Dinner tonight will be something with chips, I suspect it may be kiev as they were on BOGOF a few weeks ago.

Must do a wash tonight and get on the airer, I also have my shopping being delivered.

Good luck to Camelot today, everything crossed that the move actually goes ahead xx

    Have good days all xx

  • Good morning everyone :)

Gosh it's blowing a gale here, I think the roof may have been fixed just in time.

Am at a conference near home today so no commute and a sleep in, which is lovely. Am hoping to do a bit of Christmas shopping too ... if I can be bothered braving the crowds.

Camelot - I hope all goes well with the move.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning,

We were up and out early today, Frog has switched to morning sessions at nursery now so she was there for just after 8am. I'm clearly not very organised as I hadn't put out her clothes the night before and I didn't have time to get in the shower ... I woke up at 6.45 and thought that I must get up and showered and then woke up again at 7.00 when Frog started wailing.

I'm off to the big shopping centre this morning to try and find a Christmas present for my sister, that and an amazon voucher for my BIL and we're done :) just need to start wrapping it all now.

Not sure what I'll have for dinner tonight, I might make a lasagne if Frog has a sleep when when she gets home from nursery after lunch.

Right then, the shower beckons, have a great day everyone xx

    Morning all

Thanks for your good wishes. I feel like I've been kicked in the face this morning but in a good achy way iykwim!
Going to have a quiet day. I've already swished around with salt water and shall do that throughout the day.
No tea to cook as hubby fancies fish and chips.
I'm all organised with Christmas pressies but haven't wrote a card as yet.
Going to phone my mum shortly for a chat.
Gosh it's really windy here the windows are rattling.

    Have a safe day x

    Morning all,

Julie - glad it's done...and I won't mention the tooth fairy except to say you've certainly earned the 20p the (very mean) fairy in my house used to deliver.

Getting ready to go into town. I walked over to the PO yesterday and had to lean on things/sit in the bus stop on the way, so not looking forward to it. I've taken extra painkillers though.

Really windy here, but it is dry.

This afternoon I'm going to write cards and watch "White Christmas". If you hear a croaking noise it's me singing.

Dinner is in the freezer, lucky dip I think.

    Hugs all round x

Edit: haven't opened my non-chocolate calendar yet - I think the decorated train bumper put me off, it's not exactly seasonal is it?

Well, we are sat here waiting for the lorry to come - it was too windy for it to come out and then the road was closed! Even worse - the garage doors blew off their hinges this morning. Hoping my friendly builder will get them fixed by the time we leave. Typical!

Anyway, I am pretty confident it will go ahead, just later than planned.

Julie - Hope you are soon pain free, well done on sticking to your guns (or should I say gums).

    Take care. XX
  • Morning,

It's a quiet day for me and the girls, dinner is more leftovers :)

This week I've managed my whole to-do list so I'm taking a well earned break today before thinking about the washing tomorrow :)

DD1 will nap 11-2pm so I might take the time to back up all my photos from the PC, I don't want to loose any if my computer breaks again. That'll only take half an hour as I did it 3-4 weeks ago, but all my photos of DD2 after her birth are on there.

Hope everyone has a great day x
