Hudl & Mobile Broadband Dongle

iPhone models later than the 3GS also offer Personal Hotspot via WiFi. I might be that the Bluetooth implementation on the Hudl does not match that on your iPhone hence no connection possible. During a recent hospital stay I used a 3GS Bluetooth Personal Hotspot with an iPad Mini with no problem at all. I fear you may have to update the phone or use one of the other solutions proposed in this thread!
Just to clarify. My iPhone is a 3gs and offers the personal hotspot. It pairs with the Hudl easily and the Hudl gives the option use the iPhone for the internet connection. It is just impossible to select the check box by this option. Frustrating!
Does anyone know whether Vodafone charge extra for tethering please?

Have you tried it using a laptop? Then you'll know if it is working and that the problem might be no support for the Bluetooth implementation necessary for correct function.0 -

I thought you must have a 3GS which only has Bluetooth for the Personal Hotspot and no WiFi for it. I think the problem is that Bluetooth has loads of different implementations and while the Hudl may connect fine for file transfers, music playing, bluetooth keyboard etc. it's possibly lacking for internet access via Apple's bluetooth. It's not unusual to find the same problems with phones and car hands-free systems. I wouldn't pay out for tethering until I was sure that I could use it with a Hudl. Does it work OK with a WiFi connection? If so, maybe a cheapo unlocked phone which can take the SIM from your 3GS would do the trick.0 -
Thanks everyone. I was just playing with tethering as the Vodafone signal on my phone in one area was better than the WiFi on my Hudl. It looked promising when paired that there was the option to use the iPhone for the Hudl Internet connection!
Be nice to use a USB network adapter on the Hudl for a stronger signal!
