My Mum has bought my son a Hudl for Xmas and she wants him to have internet access on it while we are there for a week over Christmas.
In the past we have used an O2 dongle via the USB port and £10 top up has been enough for him but it doesn't look like there is a USB port on the Hudl.
Any ideas
Thanks
Mabel

You need a mifi device or a tethered smartphone
O2's version of the former is called a pocket hotspot and here are the options from Currys0 -
it's got a microUSB port, get a micro- to standard USB cable, around a pound on ebay

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

BUT please note that sometimes the USB/MicroUSB ports on Android tabs are not fully active, meaning that they are capable of some things but not of others. The safest option really would be a MiFi or portable hotspot. Make sure you secure it if you can because the signal can be fairly strong and you might get someone sitting in the street using it!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Thanks for the replies, we might go for the Ebay cable and the dongle .
If that doesn't work he can use his laptop and dongle as a back up the last thing we need over Christmas is a teenager going through no internet cold turkey.
Cheers

If you stick something like http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/ on the laptop you should be able to share the dongle with the Hudl even if it won't work on it via USB (which I suspect wil be the case). Cheaper but less convenient than a MiFi.0

I use the wifi hotspot on my Blackberry to connect.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

As above it's far better to tether, via WiFi, to your smartphone, as long as you have data included in your mobile contract. This means no wires, and you can connect multiple devices.
If you buy that little cable, I'm not sure the dongle will work. You need drivers - remember installing them on the laptop? That little cable can be used to connect mice, keyboards, hard drives or USB sticks, but you can't just connect anything and expect it to work. Just before you waste your money AND have a grumpy teenager!0 -

Been wondering for a long time if something like this existed and never found it! Looks useful when you have a 3g or wired connection to your laptop and no other WiFi around.0 -
My iPhone offers a personal hotspot for internet connection via Bluetooth. If I then pair it with my Hudl the check box on the Hudl for using the paired iPhone for internet access is not possible to check/select
Any advice welcomed

iPhone models later than the 3GS also offer Personal Hotspot via WiFi. I might be that the Bluetooth implementation on the Hudl does not match that on your iPhone hence no connection possible. During a recent hospital stay I used a 3GS Bluetooth Personal Hotspot with an iPad Mini with no problem at all. I fear you may have to update the phone or use one of the other solutions proposed in this thread!0
