wireless surround sound

does anyone have any experience of wireless surround sound such as BOSE. I wanted to get OH a wireless system to work with existing tv & dvd etc. At the moment we have wired system but it is getting very old and the bass is overpowering when drama or anything with speaking is playing. great for pure music but I also hate all the wires trailing. Any experience and suggestions please.

No experience of it, but whilst you might be able to lose the wires going from the front of the system to the two rear speakers, those speakers will then need a power source, so you'll have power leads going to them instead of speaker leads, and you'll need mains sockets close by.
Likewise, if you have a wireless sub or front speakers, same situation will apply - you lose the speaker leads, but have to have mains leads.
If the bass is overpowering, then adjust the system, surely?0 -
I looked at (and listened to) the Bose offering, then went out and bought a Sonos Playbar.
At this stage I haven't gone for the surround speakers, but I've been a very good boy this year and Mrs Santa has been asking me lots of questions as to exactly what speakers I intend to buy next year.
Yes, you need power points near the speakers, but it does mean no cables going around the walls, etc.
It's not cheap, but it's also not just a TV surround system - our phones/computers connect to it over the wireless network in the house, so all the music we have can be played through it.
Quality wise, I suspect if you cranked it up to ear-bleeding volumes, it might not be as good as my old Mission/Monitor Audio combination, but it's still very high quality up to the point where the neighbours ask us to turn it down.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

I have a Bose Soundbar with no rear speakers and a wireless subwoofer. I'm happy with every aspect of it (it was bloody expensive), but the wireless aspect of it made little difference to the amount of cabling required since the subwoofer still needs a mains connection.I looked at (and listened to) the Bose offering, then went out and bought a Sonos Playbar.
We are still a long way from a truly wireless sound experience.0 -
Yes, truly wireless would require either induction power for the rears, or battery powered ones.
Most (all?) of the battery powered speakers on the market are only bluetooth - i.e. they aren't wifi, so I'm not sure how feasible it would be to design a system to use bluetooth for the surrounds.
I don't have the Sonos sub and it's not really on my wanted list, but that would be another power point required.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
