Help with Sony Bravia KDL42W805A HDMI

Options
Hi all.

So I bought a new television, and all is great apart from one thing that is bothering me. I used to own an old Bravia with 1 HDMI port and had 3 things plugged in on an HDMI splitter. When I turned on each electronic item, the TV switched to the port just switched on and then reverted to back to HDMI 1 once it was turned off.

On my new Bravia, I have 4 HDMI ports. The Sky box is plugged into 1, a PC into HDMI 3 and an Xbox into HDMI 4.

None of these seem to be Default, and when I turn on the individual items, the tele does not switch, I have to do this manually via the remote. Now this isn't the end of the world but is annoying. I can't find anything in the instructions or in the settings on the television that would help. Does anyone know what I can do, or do I just have to live with it.

Look for HDMI control, HDMI power, Source Control, default input or some other piece of jargon in the contents of the manual. You may or may not have that feature.

My Sony KDL series TV has never auto switched to HDMI inputs of any brand of under TV box. It does with with SCART though.

I've just spent the best part of a day trying to get a Sony KDL series TV to auto switch for an elderly relative. First with an LG Blu Ray which it at least detected and then with a Sony DVD player which it couldn't 'see' at all!

    What a nightmare.
