For future reference, don't chop and change between student and full time employed between credit applications.

Decide which one is your main occupation and stick to that. Specifying full time employed will most certainly help much more than being a student.

Chopping and changing could throw up a flag on the NHunter database and you don't want lenders to suspect you of fraud, do you?

Most lenders submit your application information to NHunter. All of that information is collected and compared to any other credit applications you make to check for inconsistencies. Saying you have been a student for 2 years in one application, and F/T employed for 5 years in another application may raise some flags.

I'd assume it would be your student status that got you refused as opposed to your credit history- mine is similar at just over a year with credit but I managed to get an Amex cash back.

I was working full time when I applied so I didn't put down my student status, instead putting employed, so I guess that helped my application. Mine was approved straight away as well.
