Not knowing which landfill doesn't make it lost. It means they've disposed of it and all responsibility for caring of it.
But there is no evidence it has been broken, and no evidence it has been disposed of. Therefore the OP should be covered for the basic level of compensation.
If they had delivered the mirror in a broken condition, then OP would be due nothing because they got their goods and had taken the risk to send glass.
Instead they have conveniently disposed of it, with no evidence. As such it should be treated as lost and OP due the basic compensation. (Which is pretty much the point pinkshoes made above).0 -

I think the courier should pay up in full if they can't provide a simple photo showing the shattered mirror.
Disposing of a broken item without taking a photo is idiotic and unprofessional.
If they can't prove it was broken, they should pay up, as how do we know an employee doesn't have a nice mirror for their house?
It doesnt matter,lost,broken or whatever
it was carried under a no compensation basis as per their T&Cs
