The other thing I would suggest is a pair of strong work boots (not standard wellingtons or trainers) that will resist knocks, nails, broken glass etc. Always wear PPE at work, never bothered at home until I trod on a nail when doing so demolition. Luckily it didn't do any harm, now I wear my work boots and appropriate ppe just to make sure when doing some diy that may pose a risk0

Good luck DD. Take care with the glass. I'd use the carpet to cover the outside space (garden) to catch bits of glass on it. I'd consider saving the framed glass for temporary cloches in the garden. Disgusting though it is, same with the bit of polycarbonate over the roof. Maybe this winter only, but stick it in the garden.
One tip with glass that does work ( a bit, at least), is any cheap glue on the glass (even PVA) then stick wallpaper, newspaper, anything on. Smash with care, but it doesn't travel as much. If keeping, the paper will much lessen the risk it will break.
Save that bit of downpipe on the roof - might be long enough for the "gap" to ground (MSE, always MSE).
Edit to add: Just struck me... think of MoneyITSTMention whilst slaving... will help with the hammer blo... um... help with realising how much you are saving by DIYing it!0 -

I second that; my mate (who happens to be a Civil Engineer!) got talked into helping his daughter demolish a concrete panel garage, and she (in trainers) ended up in hospital with a broken foot!
Admittedly you have less of a challenge with your structure, but accidents happen; best wishes. Do we get 'after ' photos as well as your 'before' ones?0 -
Well , have started this , ripped carpet up , and chipboard sheeting which was the floor
Underneath it is a poured concrete floor , contained within a 2 brick high wall (which is what the walls and windows are based on)
This thick concrete has been coated with something black , am assuming this is some sort of damp proofing paint?
The drain which the downpipe would go into , appears to have been sprayed with expanding foam ! , so i am undecided what to do with that , should i hack it out , or should i route the guttering to my water butt to save using the drain at all ?
I will be replacing the structure with a graden canopy , out of interest sake....Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Even if you re-route the drainpipe to the water butt, you need to consider what the water butt will overflow into.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
agreed , the WB really isnt the long term solution , any ideas on the expanding foam `ball` thats been used to block up the outside drain..? hack it up ?Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0
